I mean...at first I thought you were maybe in europe because you were always up when I was up...but you seem to also be up when I'm sleeping.
I'm very confused.
EDIT: Just read three posts back where you said you never sleep. I guess that's that then.

Question. Looking through this thread and several years of Penn, it seems like "Why Penn?" might have been the best "optional essay." Do you guys get this sense? Does interest matter much for Penn? I submitted a diversity statement. Is it worth sending a "Why Penn?" update. I just had a spring internship interview and if I'm accepted, I'm going to be sending them that outcome as an update to my file anyway....
Honestly, I hated the way the question was phrased. It wasn't an invitation to tell them some personal reasons about why I wanted to go to Penn, it looked like they wanted me to regurgitate their brochure while adding an element of "Who am I?" which was really annoying because I wrote a PS about that.
Anyway, I've decided to let it go. Granted I ED'd so that's a pretty big "Why Penn" substitute, and granted I don't even know if I got in, but whatever.
Yeah - also didn't write a Why Penn. I mean - I went there for undergrad. I clearly liked it. I am an alumni interviewer. Blah.

UCR1 as of yesterday. Had gone complete about one month prior. I sprinkled in my Why Penn throughout my PS and in an addendum. I'd foolishly pre-written it and it didn't really fit their question prompt. I've since read mixed reviews about this type of method so I hope it doesn't hurt me too much. Good luck everyone!

I felt this exact same way. Wrote the other two essays, but found the 2nd question incredibly insipid. I see now it was meant as a modified "Why Penn," but I all read was "our values are [long list of generic, non-specific buzzwords], please explain to us that you are also a person who has values." So I left it out.

under review today!!!! So... there are a total of two date changes in this stage? Is UR this early a good sign? Penn is a reach for me.

Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
I have a question about the UR1/UR2 distinction. I submitted my ED app on 11/15, and it was complete when I sent it. On 11/19 I received an email saying my application was complete and my status read File Complete. Then later in the day it was updated to say Under Review with a status date of 11/19. Now when I logon it says Under Review with a status date of 11/20. Should expect that date to update again since the original UR1 and UR2 were so close together?

Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Mine updated the date back to back within a couple days following an under review status and has been stuck at the 2nd date for almost 3 weeks. I'm ED also. (UR1, 1-2 days UR2, nothing for 3 weeks...)CornellATL wrote:I have a question about the UR1/UR2 distinction. I submitted my ED app on 11/15, and it was complete when I sent it. SO I went to LSN to check out the profiles of the 3 people who were on the graph for the 2013 cycle, none of them seemed to have updated their profile with any information regarding UPenn or any other school. Also, one of them definitely applied last cycle.

I'mma let you all finish but... I just want to say that... Clearly has THE BEST avatar on this site, lmfao. I laughed TOO HARD when I saw it. "Just retake" is like the TLS motto hahahaha. I'm crying at my desk right now... I'm also crying because I've been complete at all of my schools since early November and still haven't heard a peep. BUT I'm mostly crying because of how funny the avatar is. Today. I think.Clearly wrote:My completely random prediction in first round ED decisions start tomorrow.

There are some folks who haven't heard back since September, so you'll have a great cycle! Just enjoy the motto. The Dark Kite wrote:I'mma let you all finish but... I just want to say that... I think the other two profiles are from last cycle - updated 6 and 8 months ago. but i don't think the 2.99 174 on LSN is a flame.tigersaresexy wrote:longlivetheking wrote:can we confirm that the LSN 2.99/174 reject is flame?

her comment on LSN:
lots of people seem to be curious about my rejection from penn. rejected via status checker and then email. really too bad, i was hoping this would be an applicants market. I don't think it was anything about my app, I even used a consulting service for my PS and had them do one last check before I sent things in.
i'm guessing no news is good news at this point. in previous years, penn began admitting people on the first friday in december, usually those who submitted earliest. then it seems to be rejections with sparse acceptances between monday and thursday, and they seem to issue more acceptances on fridays. though they also seemed to issue acceptances on wednesday too. my guess is sept/oct ED apps will get calls tomorrow, nov ED apps will prob get calls the wed/fri of next week and thereafter through december.

I'm starting to think that they rejected this person first just to send a message to everyone that they're still not being nice to splitters this cycle.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
