UGPA: 2.77
Major GPA: 3.06
10 yrs out of school, four yrs of litigation support employment. Decent LORs including a partner from one of L.A.'s top firms.

GWU- Accepted - 30K scholarship (over 3 years), 10-16k yearly need-based grant pending
UGA- Accepted - 15k Scholarship (over 3 years), Tuition Equalization Scholarship lowers tuition to in-state
Lewis and Clark - Accepted - Told to expect consideration of money in early May. Withdrawing.
W&L - Waitlisted - Withdrawn
American - Waitlisted - Withdrawn
Houston - took too damn long to decide - Withdrawn


Decision might come down to what kind of need grant GW offers.

Damn, NU opened their legs for you with that scholly. Sorry, that's not typical money from NU. I have better numbers and only got 90k. Your WE and other softs probably got you some extra dough.

*blushing* Well it's combined need/merit so I figured it's because I work at a nonprofit and therefore have no money. But maybe that's true and the need aspect had nothing to do with it. Also, I embody the Northwestern Difference (TM). Have you decided on UVA or still thinking? Have you had a chance to visit the schools? Would love to hear your thoughts (I've only been to the NU ASW and I loved it).

I have similar #s, marginally worse GPA, and I'm only in at GULC and held at NU, reserve at Cornell, WL at Chi, P, V, ding at M, and waiting on CLS. Decent but not great softs like yours. :/

What would be your top choice? I bet there'll be decent movement on the WLs this year if you're not happy with GULC, but either way you're in a pretty good position. GULC is a great school.

NYU and UVA gave me equal money, so I'm stuck between those two atm. I imagine I'll hear back from Columbia soon, too.

I think I said it ... I guess softs do matter and it was just my personality that drove 'em away.

I think it's more of a GPA floor situation. It seems to be much easier for a school to accept a 3.4 than a 3.2 once you get into 170+ LSAT territory. 3.4 seems to be the line above which you tend to see acceptances at many T14 schools, anything below that is a crapshoot.

From past posts it looks like tee.ell.ess's WE is a non-profit PI legal shop that had many school-funded grads from top law schools. Seems pretty solid. It's hard for me to compare that to my or others' experience to see if this is a case of softs or GPA or applying early or PS quality or rec letters but I tend to lean toward GPA. Either way, congrats tee.ell.ess! Those are great schools (and major congrats on rtk)!

I would reapply and not ED + apply to all of the T-14. You cherry picked schools way too much. I don't care for some T-14's just as much as the next person, but I am still going to apply to all of them. Plus, with your 3.18, you cannot afford to be too picky.
