Hi guys,
Did anyone have better luck trying to email Hastings about application status and stuff?
I keep getting replies in official tone and languages, which is of no help at all.
They didn't even seem to read what I have written before replying...
I got more helpful responses from other schools.

Hastings took two weeks to acknowledge that I was attempting to change my address. Tried to call, but they told me to email. In comparison to other schools, their lack of attention to the applicants puts me off pretty hard.xiaojimu wrote:Hi guys,

I told them in another email I had to leave the country for a couple of months,
and would like to find out my status and stuff, to prepare before I leave.
And a student worker replied my email saying the usual office is busy that kinda stuff...

I think the better approach for you would be to email the admissions office and let them know that you are goign out of the country for a few months and that you would like for them to notify you of your status via email or whatever other method you prefer. I think you should keep in mind that the admissions office has thousands of applications to go over and they can't pick and choose which ones to review and decide on first b/c of an individual applicant's personal situation. Rather than annoying them w/ requests for your status, request them to send your status, when it is ready, to your preferred method of delivery. Since they mail, email, and call and really have no set way of contacting applicants, i believe that this is the best thing that you can do.
Also, Hastings is notoriously slow w/ reviewing applications.

FYI make sure to check your spam inbox. A Hastings email about regional admitted student receptions got caught by my spam filter.

Anyone going to the ASD on March 23? I'm probably going to that and also the alumni event in SF at the Ferry Building.

I'm planning to go to that ASD and trying to figure out if it's worth it to go to one of the Southern California alumni events. They'd require a lot of driving in rush hour, and I'm assuming they're in place of instead of in addition to the ASD (redundant and on a smaller, off-campus scale). But I'm curious to know if others are going to multiple events.cbarlow1016 wrote:Anyone going to the ASD on March 23? I'm probably going to that and also the alumni event in SF at the Ferry Building.

I'm questioning this as well. For sure going to ASD, but I go to school in so-cal so I'm wondering if driving to one of the 2 hour alumni events would be worth it.helterskelter wrote:I'm planning to go to that ASD and trying to figure out if it's worth it to go to one of the Southern California alumni events. advice solicitation—I sent in my application last Thursday morning, LSAC says it's complete, but I have received no acknowledgement of receipt from Hastings. My first reaction is to be concerned, but judging by the above comments, lack of response seems to be pretty standard procedure. How much longer should I wait before I ask what's up?

Sorry for the possibly redundant question, but to confirm: is there an application status website? The application complete e-mail was quite vague. Application complete since 01/28.

Nope. Silence after the complete email until you receive your decision.kaydee wrote:Sorry for the possibly redundant question, but to confirm: is there an application status website? The application complete e-mail was quite vague. Application complete since 01/28.

You didn't really answer that question; was it like all-caps or what? In what substantive ways was the content of the letter angry in tone?xiaojimu wrote:i emailed the admissions office about my application status, and got a very angry letter in responseNeedajob1 wrote:What do you mean "an angry letter in response"?xiaojimu wrote:just got a really angry letter in response, looks like i've totally ruined my chances of getting into Hastings :'(
And I'm sure while the letter may have reflected the stressful nature of the admissions process for those who work in the department at this juncture, I don't think it could have been so angry that it would effect your chances of admittance.
That said, emailing the dean directly probably wasn't the best idea. Best to leave those administrative qualms to those at the lower levels

Not laughing at you, though, xiaojimu. Chances are they just want you to stop pestering them and it won't effect your chances.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
