Congratulations!titansfan wrote:In!! Missed the call last night at 9:00 p.m. They really do call at unpredictable hours.
submitted 11/1, complete 11/7, PM me for stats
I had a dream last night that I was woken up in the middle of the night by an acceptance and my first response was "uhhh... I'm pretty groggy right now, can I call you back?" and they said no and rescinded my acceptance. Yale's practice of calling at night only fuels my fears.titansfan wrote:In!! Eastern. I was out with friends and completely missed it until listening to my voicemail this morning.TripTrip wrote:Congratulations!titansfan wrote:In!! Missed the call last night at 9:00 p.m. They really do call at unpredictable hours.

9pm? Jeez laweez. What time zone?
So they really did call at 9pm. I suppose they know that we want to know, so we don't mind late night calls.titansfan wrote:Eastern. I did that with Harvard but it cost me more and I said it was worth it. But really, Yale?Wormfather wrote:Yale, $96 and a dream.toothbrush wrote:Stupid question probably but I figured I'll ask.
Today I received snail mail from Yale that asked me to apply because I'm either of lgbt or minority status. It included a number to call the director of recruitment and/or admissions if I have any questions in how to apply or how to work my app.
Is this standard LS mail that looks fancy because they sent it first class and it's from Yale?
168/3.75 non-urm hispanic -- I never applied to Yale.

They do it for URMs/other non-white people every year. I wouldn't read much into it.toothbrush wrote:I did that with Harvard but it cost me more and I said it was worth it. But really, Yale?Wormfather wrote:Yale, $96 and a dream.toothbrush wrote:Stupid question probably but I figured I'll ask.

I'm just not sure if this snail mail is unique-ish or just regular LS spam that I never open (but in this case I did bc, well, it's Yale)

I received the same letter today, 169/3.76 stats....I don't have a lot of money so I'm considering applying with the need access form. I understand that this is a standard form sent out, but I think that if they put that much effort into it then maybe they do emphasize other factors other than just numbers. I didn't cure cancer or anything though, so who knows, but the chance is not zero!toothbrush wrote:Stupid question probably but I figured I'll ask.

As a URM with those numbers your chances seem very real.Jacq2212 wrote:I received the same letter today, 169/3.76 stats....I don't have a lot of money so I'm considering applying with the need access form. How much effort do you think they put into it?Jacq2212 wrote:I received the same letter today, 169/3.76 stats....I don't have a lot of money so I'm considering applying with the need access form. Well, they typed up a specific letter, put an entire booklet of advice on the essays together, sent the look book, shipped it all first class, etc. more work in recruiting than those that just choose to apply without being sought out. Seemed like significant enough of an effort.wert3813 wrote: How much effort do you think they put into it?
I received the same packet in the mail and felt compelled to apply because of it. The sample 250s helped quite a bit as well.Jacq2212 wrote:Well, they typed up a specific letter, put an entire booklet of advice on the essays together, sent the look book, shipped it all first class, etc. more work in recruiting than those that just choose to apply without being sought out. Edit: I just realized you may have thought I was referring to the need access form....I meant the packet!
Now there's a charge.
