I have a financial aid mailing, listed on my status check as of 2/13. From my own research, I get the feeling that Loyola-Chicago is not very free handed with the scholarship money. I am not expecting much.

Got 16k/year in the mail today (163,3.44). I'll probably be withdrawing soon.

Re: Loyola Chicago 2011-2012 cycle
Finally checked my mail. Got $6k/year. Sadly, Cinci offered me more, and I'm in state there. This scholarship will bring my tuition alone for the three years down to about 98k. So unless they give me more money, this'll be a no go...

Re: Loyola Chicago 2011-2012 cycle
6k a year, same stips. All of my other schools have offered me at least 20k a year so I was really blown away by the low offer. Anyone have any idea about Loyola's willingness to negotiate? Anyone give it a shot yet? Loyola is one of my top choices but with their ~40k tuition and ~60k cost of living, there's no way I can rationally put myself in that much debt! Ahhh disappointed

Same here. I don't really understand how they are competing with Kent and DePaul with schollys like this.

They may not give a lot of scholarship, but their stipulations are MUCH more reasonable than DePaul's and they do not have a lawsuit filed against them, which Kent and DePaul can't say at this point.

Sure, but 3-6k even with no stips sucks. Especially when these same people are getting like 15-25k from the others. Even if you lose it because of the stips its not close. That being said, with the stuff going on with DePaul and Kent now I'd much rather go to LUC, but I can't see how to justify going there with scholarships like these...

It's a tough decision for sure, but coming from someone who got a sizable scholarship from DePaul, I think I would pick LUC over DePaul regardless of my financial packet.checkster wrote:Sure, but 3-6k even with no stips sucks. Chicago-Kent, on the other hand, would make it tough. I don't even have an acceptance from them yet, though. I'm just hopeful that, perhaps I can get something (anything really) from LUC during negotiations.

I'm in the same boat. Heard from LUC on the first day they sent out acceptances, DePaul soon after, but no word from Kent. I'd love to go to Chicago, but its gonna take a good offer from Kent or LUC probably. So...looks like a no.

Same. After calculations I've found that going to LUC will cost the same as if I go to DePaul and lose my scholarship.CPM723 wrote:It's a tough decision for sure, but coming from someone who got a sizable scholarship from DePaul, I think I would pick LUC over DePaul regardless of my financial packet.checkster wrote:Sure, but 3-6k even with no stips sucks. Would you guys take a half scholarship to DePaul or Loyola or Kent or a 5K per year scholarship from UIUC and why?
I really can't decide... and I'm assuming I'm not going to get taken off the hold list at Northwestern.
