This where I am confused - is there another flex-time student in Section C who is a male? I am a female. I thought I was the only crazy one. I think I know who you are, though, bport. Yeah, 40 hours a week cannot really be done with all that reading and class attendance - not the first year anyway. The schedule is too set. First, you're stuck with the 1L schedule. Even though they will let you try to make it as convenient as possible for yourself (i.e. taking other sections' classes), you have to take at least four of the five classes during the first year. Now, the second year is a different story. So, if a person started their first year elsewhere and then came to Pitt, it would be ok as long as your full-time work schedule wasn't the Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

haha My bad. Yeah, theres a male flex student. Like I said, you might not even realize that someone is a flex student, because theyre still here all the time.

Heres something Ive been thinking about. When you go look at schools, look for electrical sockets. Its way more important than youd think. It prolly wont make or break your decision anywhere, but its something to think about.

Pitts building sucks, but theres plugs everywhere.

+1 True. I have heard that about buildings as well and have been looking as I visit schools. Also, when I ask students what they don't like about the building (no matter the building) -- the number one answer is "not enough sockets" or "the wireless sucks."

Hey y'all. Is anyone going to the Accepted Students reception in Philly in early March? I live in DC and was figuring I could just go visit Pittsburgh is almost the same time as it would take to get to Philadelphia.

I applied/went complete end of november, UR dec. 7, acceptance jan. 15/16/17, scholarship end of jan.

Just got an email that said I would be held for further review.......didn't see anyone else that. So, I guess I am still waiting "in review" from December!

so does anyone know if the 3.0 stipulation on the dean's scholarship is stringent? Do most 1L's keep the scholly after the first year?/are there stats on this anywhere?

3.0 seems to be about median, give or take.

Cool this is helpful. Just in general though, have you heard of a lot of 1Ls losing their scholarships, or do they tend to be in that top half? Or, is it just really hard to tell and I'll just have to take it for what it is haha

I haven't really heard anybody stressing over it but that's purely anecdotal.

How likely is it to get a need based grant? I got a Dean's scholarship, but I'd be pumped for some need based aid.

I could be wrong, but I don't think pitt gives need based grants. Did you try negotiating for more $$ yet?

They sent an email about endowment grants, and it sounded as if they are need based. I did request more, and they said I'd hear back in April.
