Waitlisted via e-mail today. A pleasant surprise because of my LSAT score, but I do have a strong GPA and softs. I'll definitely be pursuing this one! Anyone who knows for sure they don't want to go to Tulane...well, you know what I'd like you to do.

is there any info about the Tulane waiting list? Also, can I visit the school to maybe better my chances?
I am probably sending them a LOCI during the weekend.

Re: 2011-2012 Tulane
Nice ASW summary! I'msad that I cant get to either one bc of school stuff :/.
On another note, I received my admitted students package/tote bag today! It's pretty neat. I also got 75k which is nice but probably not enough to get me away from UVA.. has anybody negotiated with Tulane or know of someone that has? If I could get that 105k they occasionally give out, I'd probably commit..

I won't be at school to check my mail for a while because of Spring Break... Is there a way we can check it online?tennisking88 wrote:Just got my fin aid estimate in the mail.

Tuition&Fees:$45,240
Books: 1500
Room: 8500
Board: 4940
Health: 2400

Excluding my scholarship, my tentative maximum loan eligibility comes from a combination of Federal Perkins Loan/Unsubsidized Stafford Loan/Grad Plus Loan.
Re: federal work-study: "Work-study eligibility reduces eligibility for other financial aid. We can recommend federal work-study eligibility for the second semester for a first year JD student who has sufficient financial need and who requests eligibility after an academically successful first semester."
Edit: I did not see this online. I think this is a letter mailed specifically to you/not posted on the ASW.

Re: 2011-2012 Tulane
My impression of the other 0Ls was great. Everyone I talked to seemed very personable and nobody stood out as being too gunnerish. Also, the 2L that I had lunch with, as well as a few 1Ls I talked to after the con law lecture, all seemed to agree that the majority of students at Tulane are very friendly. People share notes and outlines, and the professors seemed happy to help. I heard good things about the open door policy too.pugilistjd wrote:Thanks for writing this. Sounds like a lot of people are getting waitlisted, I know that the admissions process is unpredictable but do the decisions come in batches? I just went complete for the second time FINALLY, and am kinda thinking a waitlist letter is on the way.

I wouldn't worry about it. I went complete for the second time and then didn't hear back for about another month!gilliansaltz wrote:Sounds like a lot of people are getting waitlisted, I know that the admissions process is unpredictable but do the decisions come in batches? To the people going to the ASW on the 23rd and 24th: Is anyone having trouble finding a hotel?! It seems like I have to either pay a fortune to be anywhere near the school or else stay where I can't use public transportation. Does anyone have any ideas or advice? I'm getting nervous!

I got a room for about 130/night at the Hotel Modern NOLA. Its 4 miles from the law school at the end of St. Charles so there's streetcar access, although I've heard the streetcar is pretty unreliable. It might be a better idea to take a cab.OliveSnook wrote: To the people going to the ASW on the 23rd and 24th: Is anyone having trouble finding a hotel?! the street car is plenty reliable, just slow. it's a nice ride and then you'll walk across the campus.
staying at lee circle you're also 2 minutes from the best happy hour ever ($0.75 pulled pork sliders) at the American Sector (the ww2 museum's restaurant)

My impression of the fellow 0Ls are great! I hope you did not miss understand me in my review about not connecting with any students. I was trying to say that I did not really get a true "feel" for the other students because we did not have real time with them to talk except at the luncheon, which also had a professor present.pugilistjd wrote:Thanks for writing this.
