Well, yeah. I feel bad now, I was actually mostly kidding, but repeatedly trying to generate ASW info will drive you crazy, so you probably shouldn't do it. I did find out I was in 5 days before I received my letter, but even that sucked because for those 5 days I was freaking out thinking it could be a computer glitch. So, it will suck either way.sreichel wrote: Worked for you like eventually drove you crazy? Good to know

Re: 2011 GULC Waitlist
Nah, see, you gotta be more subtle than that. I ended up calling asking if there was "any correspondence in the mail", because I was going out of town (which was true). At that point in the cycle, they were only snail mailing acceptances, so if there was something in the mail you could be pretty certain that it was an acceptance. Even when I found out there was something on its way, I was still freaking out.sreichel wrote:Haha I can just hear the phone conversation with Gtown:Marionberry wrote:Well, yeah. Maybe I should just call Andy and have a heart to heart. Or bribe him, what's the going rate for a T14 law school acceptance?Marionberry wrote: Nah, see, you gotta be more subtle than that. I think something said we would hear by May...13th? Something like "we're getting all our deposits in, we anticipate letting people off the waitlist, we'll know by May 13th for sure". Maybe in an email?Perch wrote:votes on when the movement starts again (or if it will for that matter)?

I think in Montauk's book he said that overt threats are much more effective than bribes at top schools.sreichel wrote:Maybe I should just call Andy and have a heart to heart. that seemed to be the latest point, in theory, whereas decisions were said to start by the end of the week, at least that is what I thought which is why I askedsreichel wrote:I think something said we would hear by May...13th? Re: 2011 GULC Waitlist
I've been meaning to point this out- the activity on this thread is far less than on last year's waitlist thread. If we're gonna read tea leaves (and we are), I think that's definitely a sign of the supposedly low number of applicants across the board. I'm probably just trying to inflate my hopes, but I think that bodes well for the waitlist crew.

edit: feel like if there was room in the class we'd start to see some movement soon, but this is all speculation

At ASW Dean Cornblatt said applications were down 11% (i think) but that the quality of applicants had not declined.NewIvy wrote:I've been meaning to point this out- the activity on this thread is far less than on last year's waitlist thread. Re: 2011 GULC Waitlist
I have heard that numbers are down at least as much at most tier 1 schools. A smaller pool at GULC probably helps us. A smaller pool at the rest of T14 also probably helps us.hipstermafia wrote:At ASW Dean Cornblatt said applications were down 11% (i think) but that the quality of applicants had not declined.NewIvy wrote:I've been meaning to point this out- the activity on this thread is far less than on last year's waitlist thread. Sometimes I really wish I didn't try to keep myself positive. It's going to make it hurt so much more when I finally get the delayed ding.

Re: 2011 GULC Waitlist
I e-mailed Alison with a LOCI a few weeks back. This was the response I got about an hour ago:
I'm not gonna keep my hopes too high up.
"As you may already know, the response to our first deposit deadline on May 1st was quite strong. We were able to make a very small number of offers to our waiting lists candidates, and we don’t anticipate that there will be any movement on the waitlist until after our second deposit deadline on June 1st. Of course, this is only the first deposit deadline, so it’s always possible that things could change as the spring and summer progress."

this says to me that a few offers already went out, but none have been reported here? seems unlikely. maybe she meant they made offers before the deadline?cubbycake725 wrote:I e-mailed Alison with a LOCI a few weeks back. This was the response I got about an hour ago:
