It's Chuck E Cheese's + alcohol. I've also blown more money at a D&B's in a single visit than at any casino.jck4487 wrote:Dave & Buster's? Isn't that like Chuck E. Cheese's? That actually sounds awesome.uci2013 wrote:Congrats to the recent admits!!
Regarding ASD I don't know the whole schedule but I know there is an "after-party" planned at Dave & Busters, which should be a blast.
Looking forward to meeting some of you next Thursday!

Really sad I'm not able to be there for the official admitted students activities. My schedule wouldn't allow it, so I'm going out on Tuesday and leaving on Thursday. Anybody going to be in town a bit early interested in getting together sometime Wednesday? (PM if you'd like, but if there are a few of us who will be there Wednesday, it might be easier to keep it in the forum.)

Did anyone else just receive an email from a professor at UCI saying "congrats" and offering info if needed? Or was that actually a personalized email that I just got?

did anyone else who applied hasn't heard back? or is the admissions ignoring me personally?

Re: UC Irvine 2011 Applicants
I wouldn't be too stressed about not hearing back yet, lawschoolnumbers.com shows WAY less decisions than any other school to which I applied.
Additionally, UCI says that they didn't start reviewing applications until mid-January since they hired a new admissions director.
Also, the admissions deadline for UCI just ended on March 1, so they may have waited until the very end to start reviewing applications in a certain range.

I didn't get one. I think they are all on your jock, TLS wizard.snichols16 wrote:Did anyone else just receive an email from a professor at UCI saying "congrats" and offering info if needed? Or was that actually a personalized email that I just got?
Then again, I did fall all over myself telling Ms. Austen that UCI was my first choice and that I was beyond ecstatic, so I doubt they feel the need to keep trying to court me!

YES! I'm not the only post-acceptance phone call goofball on the thread! Hopefully Ms. Austen doesn't keep first impressions too close to heart, or she'll think I'm a total spaz.Juuuulie wrote:I kinda did the same thing.thegreatk wrote:I didn't get one. Oh, and Dave and Busters is just like Chuck E. Cheese, except with way better games and lots of draft beer. That's what makes it so magical.

Dean Chemerinsky called a bunch of admitted students a couple of weeks ago and I sounded like a TOTAL idiot on the phone. I wasn't sure who it was when he called at first (his name is long and I wasn't getting the best cell reception, OK!?) and so he had to repeat it twice and then it clicked and I started apologizing profusely. Haha, I sounded like a tool.

Really, though, she was nice as can be on the phone.

Re: UC Irvine 2011 Applicants
received my ding letter today dated 3/24, which is amazing because that's exactly when my LOCI to Irvine was dated and sent. I even sent it to the Assistant Director of Admissions and he sent me a confirming email back saying that my file was still under review and that was all they could tell me, but he could have just gone ahead and told me not to bother if they were gonna send me a decision letter the same damn day...
what a waste of time

well, dinged yesterday, so much for trying so hard to get in, wrote all essays specifically for uci, and ps for other schools were all based on them, even took time off work to visit the admissions office, after dreaming to get in for so long, looks like my life will not play out how I have planned, sigh

two rounds i will never see now... i thought about replying that i may never see that round or two when you first posted your msg, but that was such a scary thought i forced it out of my head, guess reality is what it is, harsh and depressing for methegreatk wrote:I'm still in disbelief that I get to post this right now.....but I just got the call!!!!!!!!!!!!!!snichols16 wrote:Think positive -- gotta remain positive in this game. I'm sure you'll get in.thegreatk wrote:I see what you're saying. And I was just implying that since undergraduate gpa matters and institution doesn't, logic would imply the same standard would apply to graduate school. But I understand why it doesn't.
Tomorrow is my birthday. If your prediction is correct, I'm sending you a bottle of booze. A really nice one. Irvine is by far my #1 choice.
Best birthday present ever. snichols16, I don't know if you are some kind of magical TLS wizard, but I thank you for your kind words and apparently earth-moving karmic presence. Technically your prediction is a few hours early, but I'll make an exception to our contract out of good faith. PM me your address and preference![]()
Red_alertz, I assume you prayed for me when I asked for it a few weeks ago, so I'll buy you a round or two after you get accepted.
Good luck to all who are waiting!

So sorry. It makes me sad to see you not make it in because I know you really wanted to be at UCI. I wish they had a way to factor desire to be there into their acceptance equation somehow. Good luck to you - do you know where you be going next year or are you going to wait it out until next cycle?red_alertz wrote:well, dinged yesterday, so much for trying so hard to get in, wrote all essays specifically for uci, and ps for other schools were all based on them, even took time off work to visit the admissions office, after dreaming to get in for so long, looks like my life will not play out how I have planned, sigh
