Yeah, I wouldn't go to Chinatown. There are a couple ok/good places there, but not many. For Chinese food, I usually go to Clement St. Make sure to get dim sum! Also, my favorite chinese place is: http://www.yelp.com/biz/san-tung-chines ... san%20tung Their chinese chicken wings are phenomenal!Longhorn88 wrote:Off topic:
I didn't apply (Texan staying in state) but my girlfriend and I are going to San Francisco for 4 days for spring break. Do any of yall have any recommendations of what to do while we're there? Obviously we're going to ride a street car, see fisherman's wharf, go to Golden Gate park, but are there any suggestions for activities somewhat off the beaten path? I really love Chinese food but have been told that Chinatown is a tourist trap, is that true?
Also make sure to check out the Mission area, and get a burrito.

Clement is a trek if you don't have a car though. If you want to stay more downtown, there's a great dim sum place in soma called Canton Dim Sum House -- it's owned by a pretty well known chef who got tired of all the tourists in Chinatown and decamped to soma. I'm usually one of 3 non-Chinese people there, so clearly they know what they're doing (http://www.yelp.com/biz/canton-seafood- ... -francisco)ilovesf wrote:Yeah, I wouldn't go to Chinatown. Just got in today via phonecall!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hastings is my first choice so I'll 90% be attending this fall! It was kind of a reach for me so I already planned to visit some other schools in March, but barring anything incredible happening on that trip I'll be at Hastings! Best day everrrrr!

In this afternoon via phone call!!!! I was utterly shocked when Dean Canada started talking about my major and the specifics of my personal statement. For the first time in this process, I don't feel like a number.
Visiting next Friday, and probably attending barring any miracles. Good luck to all who are still waiting!

Just got a WL... 170/3.85
I'm a bit surprised. Does anyone know how Hastings structures their wait list? In other words, are people ranked or is there some other prioritization system for us still stuck in limbo?

yield protect...they figure you are headed to Boalt or a T14 school, so they WL you and raise their selectivity. there's no way in the world you should consider Hastings with your numbers anyway. most T14 schools are still better for CA than Hastings.Escuate wrote:Just got a WL... 170/3.85

Absolutely. And Friday's not an ASD, my Dad just happens to be going up to SF for work and invited me to come along. I could wait for an accepted student's day, but I've never actually seen the school and am incredibly anxious to see what its like.ilovesf wrote:He did that in my voicemail too! Great touch huh? bacon and egg tartine with gruyere at Brenda's French Soul food, and beignets. Win. Of course, I'm not a native and I've only visited once in the last 10 years, but I had some amazing food while I was there.

Does anyone have an idea when one can start sending LOCIs? I'm looking to remain on the waitlist, but the WL email is pretty explicit that one isn't to contact them until they ask. What are the chances of getting off the waitlist?
