Greetings from Georgetown Law! We are currently in the process of making decisions regarding merit scholarship awards for this year?s entering class. You are among a select group of admitted students whom the Scholarship Committee has identified as a strong contender for merit funding.

The Scholarship Committee is very interested in using our funds as wisely as possible to assist those students who are genuinely interested in coming to Georgetown. Therefore, if you have a strong interest in coming to Georgetown, please respond to this email by February 18th. Apart from your interest in Georgetown and in being considered for scholarship funding, there is nothing else that you need to include. However, along with your original application for admission, the Scholarship Committee is happy to consider any updates to your application including whether you are submitting a financial aid application, and, if you feel comfortable sharing, your current options and the amounts of any other relevant merit scholarships you?ve been offered.

To give you an idea of this year?s timeline, as soon as we hear back from you, the Scholarship Committee will consider you for scholarship. The Committee hopes to make our initial scholarship awards via email beginning around March 1st. For those admitted students who are offered merit scholarship awards, the response deadline will be in early April.

That sucks. So if I get a scholarship award from GULC, I have to decide before I hear from Columbia?

Edit: I was held at Columbia, so I will know by April 22nd there.

Maybe they figured you will probably have more tempting offers. It does say they only want to look at apps who are seriously considering Georgetown.

got the email as well. Made the mistake of posting in the 2011 thread instead of this one. 3.76/167 Cuban. Should I include other big admits (Michigan, Berkeley) although they havent offered me any scholly?

It's always possible that they have URM-specific schollies too. Some of the other T14 schools have those. The email just said merit scholarships, so we don't really know how many and exactly what type they are.

yeah, they went out to a ton of people today via e-mail. you don't have to apply. you just have to e-mail them back to let them know that you are still interested in attending GULC and would like to be considered for a merit scholarship.
