By the way, I took advantage of the apartment locator service. Looks like most apartments ( for a 1 bedroom) are 950-1200/mo. You can get some several-hundred cheaper, but they are "old and nasty" So the "$13,500" that STCL said for room/board was pretty accurate.

Are you actually quoting someone saying old and nasty? I would say that you could find many reasonable one bedroom apartments for less than 950 that are just fine. A one bedroom apartment at 750-800 bucks just requires finding good management. Yeah, it's older, but you're spending money for the next three years without making any.

I think he may be confusing the location of STCL and UH. That's the only explanation for his confusion here.
