Bama's creeped down my list a bit since my Minnesota offer, but I'm not discounting it as an option until I visit Minnesota to see if I like it enough to throw down an extra couple thousand in COL and brave the cold for three years.

What kind of competing offers did you share with them? Did they match another offer that you have or were they just lowering the stipulation because you asked them to?
I didn't mention any specific stipulation that I'd want them to change it TO (which might have been my problem), but I gave them three examples (Washington & Lee 3.15, W&M 2.0, and Wake no requirement). I now also have the Minnesota scholarship with a 2.5 requirement, but at the time I didn't.

I had the same experience when I tried to negotiate my scholarship. Down to top 50%. I just mentioned that I have a generous offer at another school without class standing/gpa stipulations. I didn't give any more details than that.

I didn't mention any of the scholarship amounts, just the school names (to further clarify). I maybe should have waited until later in the cycle, but oh well.

Just negotiated up for 12k more (up to 28k a year now). Bama is definitely at the top of my list.

They didn't lower my requirements (still 40%). Though I don't really care and didn't ask for it.

Withdrew today. I had to give them a phone call because Alabama has been so kind and really reached out to me.

I felt like it was a breakup from a relationship in which both sides knew the relationship wasn't working :|

I hope my full-scholly invite goes to someone else now!

Is it worth trying to negotiate more $ if I only have one offer that's higher (but significantly so and from a higher ranked school)? I also have a much higher GPA with my fall semester grades which seemed to help with some other schools... Thoughts?

That's ridiculous. This is your future. They're not going to be offended because you're being sensible/debt-averse, and even if they are, who cares? If your letter says "Alabama is a joke and I'm not going without more money" you're gonna have problems. If you write and ask politely no one is going to care. The worst that can happen is that they say no.

I got a weird E-mail today saying that they are no longer willing to pay for my hotel and transportation for the ASW but they'll still fly me. I'm a little peeved.

this probably totally outs me to any admissions staff here.

So is the general consensus that pending is bad? This is by far the nicest admissions staff I have spoken with (Wake comes in close second though). It bums me out that they are so nice because it makes me like the school that much more.

I got an email saying that an admissions rep would be coming to Athens in a week or so for a group dinner. Is anyone else in any other college towns with big law schools getting this email? Just curious as to how hard they are recruiting UGA in comparison to other colleges.

Does the status checker ever tell you if you're under review? Mine has stayed at "complete ready for review" for WEEKS now.

Anybody know when Bama is likely to make a decision on those who are pending like myself?
