Looks like the past few acceptances have been high LSATs. Any advice to other waitlisters regarding strategies that you think may have made the difference?
Hm, I'm not sure of what a wait lister could do now, but...
I interviewed, visited, wrote 2 LOCIs, and I
think that my UG pre-law adviser (who has a good relationship with Vandy Admissions) talked me up. Additionally, my low GPA comes from 2 years of engineering. I've had a 3.7 since I switched to accounting in a t-20 business school.
I have done everything except for visit in person (and that is because I sadly do not have the finances). I am a 4.0/158 candidate, and I have taken the LSAT three times. Without divulging too much about my efforts (who knows who lurks these forums!), I have really gone above and beyond. But I am concerned that the 158 may be my downfall. They are most certainly aware of my strong interest, but I am not sure if they are confident enough with their LSAT median enough to throw in my score. Thoughts?
It sounds like you've done everything you can then. Even with a 4.0, that 158 is a huge hurdle to overcome especially if you are not a URM. I think the best you can do is hope that a few high LSAT splitters get picked up and then there is a need for a high GPA WL accept to raise the median.
Thank you! Do you think that Vandy, once their numbers are safe and good to go, may take on a few great candidates who do not have impressive indexes but do have a strong desire to attend, say, in late July or early August? I'd prefer sooner rather than later (well, really just in at all will suffice), but I realize my index is rarely in demand.
Edit: I am not a URM.

I definitely don't have the knowledge or qualifications to answer that question. My
personal opinion though would be no.

I tend to agree with you. The only strands of hope I'm hanging onto are (1) the fact that I was wait listed in the first place and (2) that I was not among those in the initial cut.
But anyway, good luck with your decision! It's a win-win!

I posted a couple pages back that I withdrew last week, but I thought more background information about might be useful to those on the waitlist. if they were to pick a candidate similar to me they would be female, an URM, and a higher GPA from a strong UG program, and from California... my LSAT wasn't special.
Hope that's helpful.

Well, we at least share the not-so-special LSAT score part! (I think...your score could still be considerably higher than mine!)
I am guessing you decided on Iowa? Congrats!

TLSers, don't jump until you see the whites of their eyes!!!
I like your attitude! It is just so hard to wait because I truly want to go and am not fully satisfied with my current law school. Each day that passes by I grow more and more frustrated while balancing some semblance of hope!

Ditto to that. PS I love your name and am surprised no one took it before this year hahahaha!!

It is. I called Sofia 10 minutes ago and let her know that as much as I love Vanderbilt, I just can't afford taking on the debt and will be attending UGA. I hope the next person she calls is one of yall!

As a former member of the waitlist and avid follower of this thread, I have some info that everyone here might be interested in reading. I, and presumably the rest of the Class of 2013, just got a packet in the mail with information about enrolling this fall. Included in it was a form asking me to confirm that I will be attending that has to be mailed back to the admissions office by July 21st. I know that's a long time away for those of you waiting, but at least it gives you a definite date after which there might be some final movement. Good luck to everyone here!

Thank you kindly for this information, shawshank. The other side right now is very anxiety-ridden and a bit depressing. Here's to some hope!

Haven't been a big poster on this thread but thought you guys might want to know. I received an offer from the wait list today and will be turning it down. So a new spot is coming to someone, hope it is one of y'all.

Does anybody have a conjecture as to when it is plausible to abandon all hope? I understand those in Tennessee may be able to accept last-minute offers, but those of us across the country may not be able to do so (logistically and financially).
Good luck to us! I know (at least for me) it is very difficult playing the wait game!

I had a 171 and a 3.53, the score came from a June retake. I

Thanks for the information. It looks like after shawshank, The Big Mediocre, and now you that they are seeking higher LSAT scores. Congrats on the success, though! Your numbers are great! Where are you headed?

a couple things (wish i could post anonymously but can't figure out how) -
friend of a friend is close with ryan willard, and passed this info along to me:
1. the class is currently full, so they won't be adding anyone at any point unless someone drops out.
2. they have a pretty specific game plan for their waitlist, so extra LOCIs, calling, etc won't help at this point.
Like most good schools, I imagine the waitlist will continue to move all the way through the beginning of orientation, as it does in most places. Don't lose hope yet! My own personal prediction is that they would opt for high LSAT splitters before low LSAT candidates, as raising the median LSAT seems to be a focus with each successive class.

Those who were released from the wait list in June were notified by e-mail.
