Silly question, I guess, but do admission offices work on holidays like President's Day? I'm hoping they do (sounds bad), because although they may not get to my application, it will progress the admission process by a day lol.

Given the amount of weekend/evening activity in general (not necessarily w/ HLS), I'd bet that even if offices are closed for the holiday, they're working/reading from home.Oskosh wrote:Silly question, I guess, but do admission offices work on holidays like President's Day? From what I can gather (as someone in the same situation) it is not a good sign. One we could be waitlisted and receiving the interview post WL or could be rejected. However, I'm clinging to hope on the fact that there have been two rejection waves and I have dodged them both ( pretty closely )smipt wrote:So should I take the fact that I submitted in early November and haven't been asked to interview as a sign that a rejection is coming?

I submitted late October and got my JS1 in the last wave. So I would not worry about it.Ris19 wrote:+1, interested to knowsmipt wrote:So should I take the fact that I submitted in early November and haven't been asked to interview as a sign that a rejection is coming?

Obviously, nobody here knows for sure. However, maybe it's the optimist in me but I tend to believe that if you submitted early and are still standing they are just waiting to interview you with people closer to your numbers. I would think this is especially true if your numbers fall somewhere between the 25ths and medians.Ris19 wrote:+1, interested to knowsmipt wrote:So should I take the fact that I submitted in early November and haven't been asked to interview as a sign that a rejection is coming?

Oh yeah, then idk. They have been interviewing people around those numbers for a while now. I would think WL if you haven't been rejected yet- but still, no one knows for sure.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
It's a running total of interview slots that have been opened. People that have been invited to interview and current students are able to access the website and see when slots open up for interviews. When slots open up, it generally indicates that JS1s will follow soon. It's imperfect, and slots inevitably get missed, but it's a great tool for a minimum estimate of JS1s that have been distributed this cycle.Comma.Split wrote: I am sorry for being an oblivious newb, but could you please explain what this is and what kind of conclusions can we make based on this information?

Thanks for the explanation. Do we know how many of the 25 slots next week are full and how many are empty? And does this mean we may see a JS1 wave this week, then?yot11 wrote:It's a running total of interview slots that have been opened. Thoughts on tomorrow? I'm thinking JS2 wave (not so confident I'll be part of it, though).

A little embarrassed to say that, in the midst of studying for tomorrow's exam/writing a paper due tomorrow, I forgot about the holiday.w0w wrote:tonysoprano wrote:Thoughts on tomorrow? I'm thinking JS2 wave (not so confident I'll be part of it, though).

Based on last year's dates on LSN and the corresponding TLS messages for those dates, I'm betting on a big wave at the end of this week/beginning of next for Jan and earlier JS1s, and a another big wave first or second week of March for Feb and later JS1s.
Last year the wave dates were 2/20 and 3/9, IIRC.

Weird little coincidence, at this point last year there were 21 reported rejections on TLS. This year, there have been 21 reported rejections...

Awww man. I'm a Feb JS1 and I was hoping to hear back in time for the March ASW. Maybe that's intentional so that people actually come to April.ongtexas wrote:Based on last year's dates on LSN and the corresponding TLS messages for those dates, I'm betting on a big wave at the end of this week/beginning of next for Jan and earlier JS1s, and a another big wave first or second week of March for Feb and later JS1s.
