I am sure this has already been discussed- but what did people say in the portion of the application asking about a paper you have written? 300 characters seems useless...
Do they want your thesis? or type of research or???

I put both of my theses and the paper getting published in a journal. I just went real quick with titles, nothing more.kitkat288 wrote:I am sure this has already been discussed- but what did people say in the portion of the application asking about a paper you have written? 300 characters seems useless...

I didn't put anything for that section because my writing hasn't really been supervised, and I haven't done a thesis.
Should I send an email with some of the papers I've done in classes anyway? Would it even matter?

For that section, I put something like "X page paper on Y during my Junior year. Additionally, an independent study culminating in an X page paper on Y my Senior year." I didn't think names were necessary.

If calls don't go out Monday this is going to be a loooong break. At least there will be holiday-related things going on to keep me busy.

To spend nights on the forum, obsessive, awake.
One day in the office there arose so much chatter
That I opened Harvard’s threat to see what was the matter.
“Jingo accepted,” one poster proclaimed.
“He’s going to Harvard, they called him by name.”
Congratulations were flowing as posters did cheer,
But with Jingo’s acceptance rose my own idle fears.
I rushed to my phone. No missed calls. No JS2.
As day became night I still had no news.
In the hours to follow, as more acceptances came,
I started to wonder if my application was lame.
Was my PS worth reading? Were my letters sub-par?
With my LSAT and GPA would JS make it that far?
I soon grew exhausted by the thoughts in my head.
Weary and broken I departed for bed.
I made one final post as I turned out the lights,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!”

Secondly, for the written works sections I put down the titles of papers I wrote for Honors Theses etc. where an entire semester was dedicated to writing that paper under faculty guidance. I then left a quick note to see resume for more details which is where I elaborated a bit more.
Thirdly, good luck to all of you still waiting! Monday has to be the day and I hope to see you all in Cambridge next year. You are all far too awesome not to admit especially LS22 and his amazing spreadsheets.

For those who knew I was going to see a movie yesterday, I ended up seeing "American Hustle" and I highly recommend it. Christian Bale and Jennifer Lawrence were fabulous in it (even if her accent randomly came and went). It was a very original and unique film. The movie had an interesting balance of comedic elements juxtaposed against tragic ones, and was an engaging, entertaining commentary on ambition, greed and the drive to reinvent yourself. You would all enjoy it!
An added benefit is that it will take your mind off of the wait for a bit
