Do you mind letting us know if you went DLS yesterday or this morning? Or did you get an email this morning? I'm not sure how holds come out.

My status hadn't changed when I checked it yesterday, around the time everyone else was getting held / accepted ...but I got the email this morning and my status had changed to 'DLS' on 2/28. So I guess it got updated after the time I last checked.

Where is everyone on hold getting the prompts for the hold essays? What am I missing?

They sent held people an email. I got it about 2 weeks after being held.

Just for a data point, I applied in November and included a Why NU. I wrote a pre-decision LOCI at the beginning of February and got a "hold" decision a week later. Of course this is pure speculation, but I think my LOCI expedited my decision and might have saved me from a straight-up WL/ding.

That's a bit encouraging...the silence is terrible. I've been outlining a LOCI for a few weeks now so maybe I'll just bite the bullet and send it.

Seriously. It is a few 1-2 page essays on why I want to go to a school, why I need financial aid, and why I deserve financial aid. Compared to my original applications it should be cake, yet I would almost rather pay $160k to not have to do it.

Ahhh I know! But I've been going back and forth with content, as I'm still in my current job, I already wrote an extensive "Why NU" essay, and the only significant event that occurred recently was Hurricane Sandy and the aftermath. My LOCI pretty much consists of "I love you I love you please let me in!" and this does not an effective LOCI make.

Tbh, I may be in he minority but I do not think an LOCI needs is only warranted when something new has happened in your life. I did not write any Why X essays with my original apps, and weeks later decided to send a sort of a dual LOCI/Why x statement. Mostly, I researched each school and found more things that would interest me specifically, and elaborating how I would gain from these experiences, and add to them, etc. etc. much like a Why X.
If you already wrote a Why NU then this option would just be redundant and seem desperate, but if you haven't you can use it as a way to add all this info you know and love about NU, and show them you are still thinking about and researching their school at the same time.
Anyway, that's just one suggestion of a direction to go,other ideas are welcome.

254 words. I doubt they will count words. So we will probably be fine.

But I think they will notice that I easily topped 500 words count in 2nd essay. Oh boy I luv to tell people how great I am and how I deserve $$$

AJD admit...I got financial aid package today, no scholly. Does anyone know if AJDs typically get any scholarships/grants, I kind of assumed it would be harder to get seeing as how you're enrolling in an accelerated program with lower cost of living.
