So I am freaking out about something. I received an email earlier today that my application status changed from received to complete (I applied really late). I accidentally replied to the email to jdadmiss@law.harvard.edu with a. Meant to forward it to my girlfriend and hit the wrong button! Basically my question is do you guys think this is a big deal, little deal, or no deal? Also, should I followup at all or just let it be...?

What are your thoughts on thank you emails for interviews, acceptances, scholarship offers, and anything else? Are they expected, beneficial, or detrimental? I know in the "normal" world, I always follow up with a thank you. I don't know if admissions are different. Thanks.
It may or may not help, but it sets a good tone for future correspondence.

Newcomer/former lurker here, gotta say I'm pretty relieved to see I wasn't the only one to apply at the end of January. It looks though that I still haven't received the HLS "completion" email even though I've gotten it from most of my other schools, even SLS. Tbh, I was expecting the completion process to take a few weeks (judging from their website) but it looks like some TLSers have gotten completion emails already?

I can't speak for anyone who applied more recently, but I applied on 1/1 and it took a loong time to get the complete email - closer to 4 weeks than 3. i was about to freak and then it showed up. if you applied end of jan you're probably still just fine. i'd give it a full month before worrying too hard, especially because they've said that things in the admissions office are crazy right now.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I have a dilemma and am hoping some of you on here will be able to help.
I am a reverse splitter with a GPA well over the 75th and an LSAT right under the 25th. I knew there was a slim chance for me at HLS but applied anyways back in NOV. I have yet to hear anything from them and am fully expecting to be dinged soon.
I was WL recently at another one of my very top choices and have therefore decided on a LSAT retake in June that may help me get off WL. My question is, is it smart to let HLS know before any decision is reached that I am signed up for and retaking in June? I feel like I do not have much to lose and perhaps that would result in a hold or ultimately a WL instead of a rejection. On the flip side I am not sure how an email in February saying I am scheduled for June retake will look to admissions. Is it just flat out weird? If you think I should tell them, do you think I should give any explanation or should I just let them know with a short statement makeing them aware that I am currently scheduled for the June Lsat?
If anyone has any advice I would really appreciate hearing what you think.
Thanks!!

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
It's my understanding that HLS won't consider June lsat for this cycle, so I wouldn't alert them.
From what you're saying, I'd say wait it out to see what happens and plan to try again with a higher lsat next year if you're dinged, or withdraw now in anticipation of a stronger app next cycle. Does anyone know if/how a previous rejection or withdrawal may impact future apps?

You probably have a better chance of getting your question answered in the main admissions forum than in this thread, so I'd recommend posting there. That said, I'd consider withdrawing all of your apps this cycle, retaking, and reapplying. Others know better than me, but I don't think getting an LSAT score after July 4th will help you get off a waitlist -- or at least, it doesn't give you a great shot. I think you have a much better chance as a new applicant with a 170+ LSAT and your already stellar GPA.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Did you check with your top choice to see if they'll consider a June LSAT when evaluating the waitlist? I was under the impression that schools cut off LSAT score consideration primarily on december/february LSATS, but I haven't looked into their positions on June LSATs for waitlists. Maybe it's useful, maybe not?Wackyjack1215 wrote:I have a dilemma and am hoping some of you on here will be able to help.

Regardless, I don't think that a) Harvard gets notified if you're registered for a later LSAT, or 2) even if they were, or you told them, that it would impact their review of your file. From Harvard's site: "We recommend that you take the LSAT after your junior year in college, preferably at the June, October or December administration. Results of the December test will be received prior to the February 1 application deadline. However, results of the February test normally cannot be considered in the selection process for that year's entering class." If February is out, not sure how June would be in--but I guess asking (maybe) couldn't hurt?
Also, in response to mwonka, I was rejected from HLS two years ago and accepted this year with a higher LSAT. So... it's possible!

Schools can see that you're signed up for another LSAT. However, I don't think they'll hold your application because you're signed up for a June test. Telling them can't hurt, but I wouldn't expect them to act differently in rendering a decision (they might for Feb, but June is too late).
There's no guarantee your score will increase substantially, but if you have your heart set on HLS or this other school, consider reapplying next year. It can't hurt, especially if you don't have any other options in terms of schools/$ that you like. In a worst case scenario, your score stays the same and you have another year of work experience.
Don't stress about your situation, just weigh your options once April comes (who knows, you might get in HLS), study for the LSAT as though you're taking it, and decide when you need to.

Had my JS1 this week, so checking in for the long wait. Kind of fitting that a long couple of months of sitting at home and waiting for the phone to ring begins right around Valentine's Day, huh?

Have people been sending thank you emails after their JS1s? I know that's standard for job interviews, but i don't know what the consensus is for this instance. Sorry if this has been discussed before.

Thanks. But are people sending the emails to the JDadmissions email or searching for their interviewer's law school admissions address?LetsGoMets wrote:Scroll up a few postsroyale2540 wrote:Have people been sending thank you emails after their JS1s? this q is hilarious in the context of the last page or two's discussions. otherwise it's perfectly reasonable.
the consensus seems to be just send it to "jdadmissions" but i feel that it's better to send it to your interviewer's direct mail.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
In some interviews he/she gave me their direct email or told me to not send future correspondence to the group one. For those who didn't (HLS), I sent it to the group one only because I thought it may get buried in their Inbox. If it went to the group someone will update my file, right? Anyway, if you send it your individual interviewer, you're following standard business protocols so I don't think you'll go wrong either way. No one should be offended.royale2540 wrote:Thanks. So should I take the fact that I submitted in early November and haven't been asked to interview as a sign that a rejection is coming?
