Re: Georgetown 2013/ (2014)
I'm going into Public Interest - the ten year loan forgiveness plan that's been put in place is a dream come true for me. I wouldn't have to worry about tuition at all if I'm accepted in that case. I'm just a little miffed that ED's are suposed to get the best consideration and I'm being reviewed a month after my application after RD's. I'm supposed to experience the best consideration when you have less than a week to look at my application? People who applied weeks later than me have been UR'd for and DR'd way before me.
But I'm complaining again, there's nothing I can do about it now.

Although I almost have to think that it's too good to be true. What's the catch?

Can the program change before we make it to our ten years? Not sure? Georgetown is my dream school, and I would hate to turn down my acceptance because of money, although I was tempted to do GWU ED for the full ride. But GWU is not Georgetown!galahad85 wrote:+1starrydecisus wrote:Georgetown worried me about the costs, but I want to do Public Interest, too, and that ten year plan rocks.billyez wrote:I'm going into Public Interest - the ten year loan forgiveness plan that's been put in place is a dream come true for me. What type of work do you all want to do? Have you considered applying for Georgetown's Public Interest Law Center (scholarship for up to 1/3 tuition...that definitely helps!)

Re: Georgetown 2013/ (2014)
In general the case for ED was always weak IMHO - you give up all rights, and don't get anything tangible in return - most schools say flat out they don't give a distinct advantage to ED candidates - maybe you get the slightest bump, but I think that's just more of an impression they kind of put out there to get people to bite. Clearly if you have the numbers, be it for GULC or UCLA, just send it in early and you'll get in, even with $$$, before many ED - who signed away all their rights/bargaining/choice - get decisions.phear_me wrote:+ 1billyez wrote:I'm just a little miffed that ED's are suposed to get the best consideration and I'm being reviewed a month after my application after RD's. To me it just seems like a sucker bet, except in the case of GWU where you'd be guaranteed something very cool in return.

Far as I've seen, the biggest catch is that your yearly income needs to be capped at 75 grand or else the amount of money that you'll get paid towards your tuition will be reduced. Luckily, the COL in Texas is low enough that that's entirely reasonable. Besides, I'm going to be a public defender. Money wasn't really what I was interested in anyway.galahad85 wrote:+1starrydecisus wrote:Georgetown worried me about the costs, but I want to do Public Interest, too, and that ten year plan rocks.billyez wrote:I'm going into Public Interest - the ten year loan forgiveness plan that's been put in place is a dream come true for me. Are you DR 12/7? Letter or email? Details please?michaellikesit wrote:In.
I'm also a 12/7. LSAT 173 (165 first time), GPA 3.45 with average softs. Seems like a lot of splitters/multiple LSATs in this batch. I can't wait to hear...

I hope the 12/7 DR letters start rolling in today...the possibility of a waitlist is severely hindering my studying for finals

I applied to all the schools I want to go to (can handle debt-income wise). IDK what else to do. It looks like a Feb. retake for me and hopefully i get accommodations. If I don't, I wait a yearNotor wrote:You can still apply to other schools... its only December, what are you talking aboutrobin600 wrote:I've been rejected/waitlisted at 5 places so far...Unless Washington and Lee or William and Mary pull through (and it looks like they won't) I'm not going to law school..... the way this cycle looks i'm not going anywhere.clint4law wrote:Why robin? I think 12/7's are in or waitlisted at worst. I've yet to see someone post with clearly sub-par scores.

Had my interview yesterday. For those of you scheduled to have one, it's really relaxed, more like a chat than an interview. Good luck everyone still waiting!!
Does anyone who interviewed know how long it takes to go to DR after the interview??

how long did it take you to get matched up with your interviewer? I was asked to interview on 12/1 (I accepted), but haven't heard anything since.PapantlaFlyer wrote:Had my interview yesterday. Are any of you 12/7 DRs PT?
Also, what's the deal with PT programs and the USNWR? Are the PT numbers counted toward the FT rankings?

It took 2 or 3 days after I sent them an email accepting to interview for the interviewer to contact me. I think you should wait until the end of the week and then send them another email, just in case.xcountryjunkie wrote:how long did it take you to get matched up with your interviewer? OK, thanks guys. I think it might be because I'm a little geographically remote, so they might not have alumns in the immediate area.ksumi wrote:I was asked to interview on 11/17, interviewed on 11/24, went UR again 12/3, then DR 12/7PapantlaFlyer wrote:It took 2 or 3 days after I sent them an email accepting to interview for the interviewer to contact me. DR 12/7 here too...for those who care:
3.19/170 URM FT, RD
Wrote a GA and DS. Have a couple softs which may be of particular interest to Georgetown (or I could be entirely wrong. But let's play the optimism game).
