Some schools under review dates change too.

I need for someone to care with me about this:
How amazing is that photoshopped pic of Melania walking with Beauxbattons into the triwizard tournament?

Seriously. Re: TLS c/o 2020 Applicants (NEW POLL)
are there downsides to withdrawing from a WL this early? got waitlisted at chicago yesterday. I've gotten into my top choice already (t-6) and two other choices in the t-14 that I would have likely gone to over UC had I gotten in. I also know that WL usually receive little to no money, so I'm wondering if there's a point to staying on. I have this nagging feeling that I shouldn't withdraw too early, but I don't see a point in staying on.

Got a brochure from Western New England University School of Law. I must say, it's quite well done, but I'm still not applying to your school. Didn't bust my ass on the LSAT to settle on a school with a median of 148.

Personally, I don't think there is any reason to stay on the WL if you have other options in the T14 that you would prefer/have gotten into your top school. I've already withdrawn from Chicago's WL, because I got into my top choice the day before. Earlier in the cycle, I also withdrew from two T14 schools that WL me, because I had gotten into two others that I would rather attend. Basically, my point is that if you get placed on the WL, and you already have an acceptance at a school you would rather attend/think you will get a more attractive offer from, then you should just withdraw.20171lhopeful wrote:are there downsides to withdrawing from a WL this early? got waitlisted at chicago yesterday. Plus if you know you don't want to go, that spot then potentially opens up for someone who really wants UC

This is how I feel about NUSL. Some aspects of their program are extremely appealing for my PI aspirations but I'd just be doing myself a disservice after studying so hard for the LSAT.Instrumental wrote:Got a brochure from Western New England University School of Law. Anecdotal story: a friend of mine went to Western New England law. when I first started looking at law schools I asked him what advice he wished someone had given him when he was first starting out and he said "to go to a top tier school". This is the first thing that spurred me finding this site. He's happy doing what he does, for what it's worth.

I've felt the same way, especially if the discussion goes the direction of rankings/employment numbers/scholarships. And my LSAT study process/score. I frequently caveat my convos with "but I'm not saying anything bad about X school and I know several successful people with law degrees from there, including you!" Sometimes I worry I come off snobbish, even though I really try not to be. One of the reasons I like TLS - talking with all of my fellow uber ambitious (sometimes neurotic) applicants makes me feel a bit more sanechargers21 wrote:As a sidenote, I almost feel bad discussing my law school application experience with them because I'm choosing between t14 schools

I actually don't have many friends in law school or with law degrees. Luckily, the one friend who is a current student I have is going to Michigan, so she gets it. I have another acquaintance who is going to GW, but we don't talk much so I don't have to worry too much about it. She gushed about GW when I got in though. I do think that being on TLS and reading all of the stuff on here has made me a bit more... snooty when it comes to law schools. Like, some people will hear I'm planning on going to law school and say "Oh, are you going to apply to [local school]" and I can't help but make a face like "Are you f****ng crazy? I want a job AND a jd, not just the latter!" When I first started my LS search, I hadn't discovered TLS yet (thank God I did) so I was literally just looking at schools that were promising for my numbers (think T50-T100). Found TLS and have been accepted to two T14s so far (hopefully I'll end up with more and a handful of schools between T15-T25, got a substantial amount of money from one of them too. Basically, this site was a savioooor lol.

Re: TLS c/o 2020 Applicants (NEW POLL)
I have had a similar experience with a friend who applied to schools last year. He took the Dec lsat, was pretty late with his apps waiting for a LoR and ended up going to Santa Clara with $$. But wants to transfer and thinks he should have waited a year to apply early this cycle. I know of at least 2 people who dropped out of NYLS after a semester.chargers21 wrote:That WNEU magazine was pretty high quality, I felt bad recycling it while holding on to my shit mailings from t14 schools. On the note about talking to students from lower ranked schools, I have some friends going to a local school ranked around 100, and they have expressed concerns about employment prospects. They said that they will manage to get lawyer jobs, just not good ones or high paying ones. One of them has connections, though, so I think he'll be better off than many at the school. But few people at those schools likely have solid connections like him. They are adamanent that law school will improve their employment prospects over not going, because they had largely useless UG degrees. Re: TLS c/o 2020 Applicants (NEW POLL)
Luckily I don't really have any friends that are looking at going to TTT schools that I have to lie to. The people I know in this cycle are all gunning for T14/T1. Even then I have to be a bit careful though. I don't want to come off as bragging about which ones I have gotten into so far.proteinshake wrote:every time someone brings it up, I'm mostly just like "yeah I'm still waiting to hear back from a bunch of places so idk"NotAGolfer wrote:I've felt the same way, especially if the discussion goes the direction of rankings/employment numbers/scholarships.
