I submitted my app on December 28th, 2010---> status went complete on Jan. 6th---> UR on 4/18---> DF on 5/13

At this point, is it realistic to assume rejection? I am trying to avoid being the debby downer but I just think it's ridiculous that it takes 4.5 months to render a decision about my application.

Well, on USC's behalf, the word around the grape vine is your personal statement was 2,500 pages. It took a while to read.

The schools I applied to absolutely loved my 2,500 page autobiography! I'm going to Vanderbilt anyways. They responded to my admissions request in a timely fashion.

it matters because although the chance of me getting are super slim if by some very rare chance they accept me I will go.... I can get a 100% refund from dozo w/in one week of class starting.

this is a special circumstance. i say call. they won't fax it, but i'm sure people will empathize. nobody wants to see you lose 20k unless they get that 20k.

Do you regret turning down the Indy full ride at all?

You did very well for your #'s. You should be a role model for all black law school applicants. As long as you are black, and you break a 160, you are golden regardless of GPA. I'm not saying that's wrong, but I'm just saying that maybe if this was better communicated to inner city high school children, a lot more lives would be turned around.

I do, it was a tough decision because I have an incredible amount of debt from undergrad, but ultimately I didn't want to limit my career options to the Midwest.

And I agree with the bolded, URM cycles are so unpredictable. Last year I was set on going to Rutgers, and decided not to go at the last minute. I'm really glad I took a year off, retook the LSAT, applied to a broad range of schools and included diversity statements and "Why XYZ" essays where applicable.

Same here, my numbers are awful compared to what is necessary for the school, the only reason I applied is because my cousin told me "you never know".

I'm in the same boat as some of yas. I applied to SC law for giggles (because my numbers were below the median, but ya never know). I went to undergrad there and they waived my application fee so I said what the hell, why not? The worst thing they can tell me is NO!

However, they still haven't mailed me the decision letter! [In the case of Ms. 0L_Jedi, you've NOT been accepted at the USC Gould School of Law]...SMH

as someone likely going to be going in the fall, i never fully got over usc rejecting me for a fee waiver. didn't u have to be above both medians to get 1, in which case you're likely in?

My sources tell me they did, in fact, look at your file. They were so horrified, they threw it away. The school has since been debating if your file warrants the 44 cent stamp necessary to reject you.

One can hope and one can keep their fingers crossed. I did attend SC for undergrad so that might affect my candidacy (in terms of diversity). But hey, you never know. We might be classmates next fall if you decide to attend and if USC realized royalty when they received my application 4.5 months ago.......@&*!

I am below both medians and I was offered an unsolicited fee waiver from USC, so you never know.

Nah, I got one without asking, and I wasn't above both medians. I got in about a week and a half ago with money.

I'm overseas, they said they mailed the letter late April, and it's still not here. Quite anxious.

i called them and they emailed me my decision. I was under a time limit to find out. if you have a legitimate reason you can call and they will email you a decision.
