Re: USC 2010!
Quine, wouldn't it seem a little silly for them to admit you now and make you fill out the forms to find out if they are going to offer you money? If I were the admissions dean and I really wanted you I would be sending the money offer with the admissions offer because of how late it is in the cycle.

Re: USC 2010!
Yeah, so would I... That's why I was asking if people were getting offers. The one reply from someone off of the waitlist was "not yet" and indicated it was potentially pending their receipt of financial aid information. So, I asked if that could be used in making the consideration. Stupendous_Man then commented, "I know they consider need and merit together in whatever scholarship they offer" (emphasis added).mcdad wrote:Quine, wouldn't it seem a little silly for them to admit you now and make you fill out the forms to find out if they are going to offer you money? You know what else seems silly? Admitting everyone with a 167 and a 3.6 and waitlisting or denying everyone with a 168+/3.50-3.59 - but that's exactly what USC did this cycle. They've done nothing to demonstrate their rationality thus far.
With this dialogue, you really aren't contributing anything. If you have information to share, that would be greatly appreciated. However, your inane speculation about the "silliness" of their actions and my questions is useless to myself and, I suspect, everyone else.

New topic!
I don't know if this is something people want to share... but I'm just curious, those of you (myself included) still on the waitlist are you employing a strategy to help yourself? i.e. hope and pray, weekly LOCI, new letters of rec?
I've sent 3 LOCI since my initial waitlist in early March and a new letter of rec... too pushy?

Re: USC 2010!
If you sent a LOCI, then they know you are still seriously hoping for an acceptance, and they are still seriously considering you. If I were in your position, I'd just send one LOCI, then maybe a follow up call a long while after the first just to make sure everything's going smoothly. Beyond that, I figure they want to know material changes to your app (higher GPA, retook LSAT, won some contest or award), but nothing else would really help you.
The reason you're being held is because they're waiting to see whose riding out other waitlists or have placed deposits at multiple schools, not because they're still debating the strength of your app. From history it looks like some people can be admitted off the waitlist right up to classes starting. If you're on the WL, you got into some really good schools. I'd plan on going to my top choice acceptance, but leave enough wiggle room so that if I did get admitted of USC's waitlist, I'd be able to switch my plans last minute. I realize that sucks for housing and other considerations, but if USC is where you really want to be, that's all you can do right now. If it isn't worth that uncertainty to you, then like I said you have some other great choices. Good luck and I hope to see you in the Fall!

Yup, sounds like they could be preparing to accept another wave...
Of the 4 waitlists I'm on, USC has the most movement by far .

those that were accepted off the waitlist, did they offer you any financial aid or expect you to pay sticker?

Re: USC 2010!
I was offered loans only, and am going to have to take out gradplus loans for the rest of it. I inquired about $$ and they said that they just don't have any more money to give, and that they don't anticipate getting anymore. And I was admitted on the first day the started taking people off the waitlist.

Re: USC 2010!
Is that how they're treating all of their accepted off the waitlist students? I've seen that in the past they've offered money to some of the people off the WL, but that could be only for the extreme cases of financial need...

Re: USC 2010!
I also was only offered Stafford loans and will take out GradPLUS loans for the rest. I had already assumed that getting in off the waitlist would mean paying sticker, so I wasn't that surprised. What sucked was that after being accepted the finaid office sent an email requesting "additional information" in order to assess my financial need, which gave me false hope that I'd get some money
I hate mind games.

In the initial waitlist letter they were pretty straightforward about not expecting any schollies off the waitlist.

Re: USC 2010!
It is almost June 15, whose optimistic about seeing WL movement???
My 0L guess is that they let in one last wave in about a week and a few other lucky individuals throughout the remain of the summer...
Hopefully I can be one of those lucky few!!!
Good luck to everyone still hoping to get off the WL!
