So I am freaking out about something. I received an email earlier today that my application status changed from received to complete (I applied really late). I accidentally replied to the email to

. Meant to forward it to my girlfriend and hit the wrong button! Basically my question is do you guys think this is a big deal, little deal, or no deal? Also, should I followup at all or just let it be...?
1. im sorry for your misfortune
2. that's hilarious
3. i definitely think you sh follow up. my understand is that all correspondence w admissions is kept on your file, so right now it looks weird af. the folks at the admissions office, in my experience, are really nice and i think would be understanding. they'd probably appreciate something to the effect of: my apologies, please disregard my last email -- it was intended for my girlfriend. cuz otherwise your file has an unexplained smiley face and ya look like a goob.
ETA: little deal, dont worry

this is predicated on the notion that they do, in fact, add correspondence to your file. could be a good q for spivey.

I had something very similar happen to me, so I understand the panic! I just immediately sent another email saying something along the lines of "Sorry, that reply was intended for another recipient"

It would be pretty funny if they replied with a smiley face.

For me I had just received an email confirming my password change (from the admissions account). Because I'm a weirdo I was sending an email to myself to remember what I had changed the password to in my own personal code. So they received a nonsensical sentence of 3 words. No reply - next I heard from them was a JS2 haha

Thanks, I'm partial to the guy/gal who has the kitty sniper, but I have grown to love my mob cats.

Both of them are instant-JS2-worthy if emailed to admissions.

for anyone curious about that inadvertent-email issue we discussed earlier, i shot spivey a pm asking whether or not HLS adds your correspondence to your file. below is his response, interpret as you like:
"It probably depends on the nature of the email but they will highly likely have an electronic folder where they are all saved. The point being that your default should always be that someone who matters to you will see it. Not just for HLS but for all law schools and employers, going forward."

Now that there are basically two full pages about how to deal with the errant emoticon, I am just waiting for HLS to tweet about it. Surely, if they are reading, they'd get a kick out of the level of anxiety over Mr. Smiley.

Best case senario they tweet a picture of a cat with a smiley over its face.

I also had a bit of an email related disaster where I, through a certain level of sleuthing, deduced what my interviewer's email address MAY be and sent the thank you to his/her personal email instead of the group email. I'm still not even sure if I emailed the right person haha. but by now it is way too late to go back.
Do you think that if I accidentally emailed a random Harvard law student they would respond and say it was the wrong recipient? I usually do that to help people. But now i'm not quite sure I can expect that from a busy law student.
Also, PM me if you know any of the interviewer's personal emails and I will tell you which one I used and hopefully you can confirm it. I know it sounds silly but now I'm seriously thinking that I want the thank you email in my "file" and if it was sent to the wrong person, it obviously won't be.

also, as a follow up to the errant smiley face email, I really would respond and say that it was in error. because from the content of the email, the simply smiley face, it could look like the sender actually intended for it to go to HLS admissions, which I think looks really bad, for lack of better wording lol
