About a month ago many of us received the controversial "held" email. Have some who received the email been accepted since then?

I haven't heard anything (obviously)...

I'm still confused. So, did everyone get the email, or was it just for those who were held?

Ding via snail mail (totally expecting that decision), but status is still Complete on checker. They should have given me the few days' heads up that I was going to be rejected.

This was part of the email:
Dear XXX:

Thank you for your application to the University of Michigan Law School. Because you went to great lengths to apply early in our season, we understand that you may feel some disappointment at not having received your answer yet. We understand the anxiety that the law school admissions procedure can cause, and are therefore writing to update you on the status of your file in an effort to alleviate at least some of that stress.

Your file has been reviewed at least once by our staff and the admissions committee and we have found much to admire. We have not yet, however, been able to render a decision, and are continuing to review your application file in the context of the greater applicant pool. There are a variety of reasons why we may not have been able to reach a speedy decision: sometimes we are waiting for additional information that we know is en route, like recommendation letters, updated transcripts, a new LSAT score, residency information; sometimes file-readers have different interpretations of or reactions to an application, and we need to meet and discuss; and so on. We take our responsibility of composing a top-notch class extremely seriously, and that is to your benefit; you can be assured your application materials are receiving a thorough review.
I have yet to hear anything other than a "we have received your LOCI"

Just curious, how did they inform you that they received the LOCI? I sent one along with a few additional recommendations and have no idea whether they're in my file yet or not.

First school I heard back from. Rejected. :(

3.4 from hyp.

I'm feeling a little nervous now. I should have probably applied to more schools.

Yes.

I discussed my love for Ann Arbor, the institutional pride displayed by Michigan students and my interest in pursuing academia in the long run. Perhaps I came across as superficial when I mentioned that I supported Michigan sports teams and could recite the michigan fight song by heart. But I earnestly feel that Michigan is an awesome school, and it's the sort of community I'd love to be a part of for three years.

Fuck fuck fuckety fuck. Because I thought I had a good job lined up for this year and next, hubristically, I only I applied to schools that I would have been thrilled to attend, and there are only two schools ranked below UMich I applied to. It feels really plausible right now that I might not get into a single law school.

Where else did you apply? It seems like Michigan is not representative of all of the schools. I got in with a 3.9/168 but haven't heard a peep from some lower ranked schools.

Would you consider going to a non-T14 school? You could probably still have a shot at some of them if you applied this late.

I think he has a decent shot but who the hell knows this cycle. It seems like all of the schools have gone crazy.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
