Glorious and exactly how I am feeling as I am waiting on hold w/ NYU Admissions...
you're on the phone with them now? or holding out in general?
I was on hold on the phone...
"Your application is still in the review committee. They hope to get those decisions completed and in the mail by the end of next week."
...I'm sittin on the phone, waitin for your decision and I...

Thanks for the update! CLS or Chi for you?
Actually, I'm off to Duke. I know it's crazy to turn down Chicago & Columbia, but my husband got a really good job in the area & it's really close to his family. + Duke gave me $$. Ah well - there's always the possibility of an LLM or SJD at another school!

so if thats true that they would be putting decisions in the mail by the end of next week...what kind of deadline would they be giving people to respond if they got in? a matter of days?

It sounds like it. I was pretty obnoxious when I called (as in, I just kept asking questions) because I had nothing to lose. I told them I had two scholarship deadlines coming up (which is true!) and that's the best I got. Not pleased, but better than nothing.

Face it, we're all getting waitlisted.

Aieeeee!!!! NYU is so frustrating. I am going to have to withdraw before I even get a decision, because I have to respond to Georgetown and accept my 20K a year offer by the 19th. My dream will end without even having a resolution. Depressing.

But you know that if you really want to go to NYU, you can withdraw from GULC. Isn't that the way it goes? These things are, to my knowledge , only binding to the schools you have heard from. Not the ones you haven't.
At least I hope that's what is going on here.

GULC's scholarships require immediate withdrawal of all applications, period.

No, GULC's scholarship procedures aren't particularly great. It is what it is, though. I ended up turning down a 10k scholarship yet holding my spot, as I haven't heard back from NYU, et al.

Withdrew from admission last week. Hopefully someone here gets my slot and the 25K in scholarship money that this frees up. Good luck!

That sounds great- money from a T-14 is serious business. Good luck!

Trying to generate some good karma.....just withdrew from GULC, Duke, Iowa, and UVA. That should help, right?

My girlfriend just called to see her status at NYU. They told her that she should receive a letter either this week or next week.....

FWIW, last night I compared this year's LSN to last year's. Last year, WLs started going out 4/6, so it definitely looks like there's a delay this year...

Yeah I remember a bunch being around 4/12 or 4/14, as in before many schools' 4/15 deposit deadlines. But I think the majority of the WLs were after the 15th, so I guess they're not too off-target (if insanely late can be considered a "target" at all).

Apparently other schools' deposit deadlines mean nothing this year

. I don't know about you, but I would gladly throw away the $400 I just paid to Fordham for NYU...

we are all going on LDC's assertion that according to admissions, more acceptances ARE coming. otherwise, i would have even less hope right now.

I'm already convinced this is some kind of cosmic lesson in patience. I can't reconcile it with the notion of a good Supreme Being, so I'm forced to conclude it has something to do the alignment of the stars or something like that.

Had to put down a deposit at another school, after 6 months of waiting and no decision. Hopefully the almighty ones at NYU will bless us with responses, so that we may marvel at the wonder of their decision-making process. After all, we are but mere mortals in the eyes of the almighty ones.

They're probably just taking a long time to calculate all the merit aid that we're going to get.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
