Out of the people still waiting, how many you went to Ivy/Top 20ish schools? I'm wondering if that might reveal a pattern.

I'm waiting and did not attend an Ivy/Top 20. (Applied in early November).

idk, the people in the harvard thread get pretty freaking maudlin.

Yeah but people who have a legit shot at Harvard but don't get in will be fine in the end no matter what. People who have a legit shot at Columbia but don't get in will have to settle for TTT. It's pretty much get in or die in this thread.

Yeah, I was reserved yesterday. Pretty disappointing - I was expecting a hold.

All I can think of is the fact that I have my multiple scores. I know people say it doesn't matter, but my cycle is starting to make me think otherwise.

The bimodal explanation makes sense. People in at Harvard: no offense to columbia, but why consider columbia when u have HARVARD? how much merit aid/nyc perks make columbia>harvard?

Harvard vs. Columbia is NOT, in any way shape or form, a done deal. There are plenty of reasons to pick Columbia over Harvard, especially if you get more money from CLS.

How likely is it to get money at CLS? I tend to assume that Columbia is more expensive just because of the col and HLS's generous need based aid

It's all subjective and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Mine, Harvard or Yale > Columbia+$. Law school is a financial investment, but an academic one as well and allotted prestige magnified with superb academic opportunities as well as employment prospects bodes in favor of HLS or YLS...just seems like the right path for myself. To each their own.

you're right, NYU, Chicago, Michigan, Penn, etc. are all super TTT...

Can't tell how serious WhiteGuy is, if at all...

Particularly within CCN, there doesn't seem to be any clear-cut "best" option and it really just comes down to individual preference. I think the only definitive advantage that Columbia has over the other two is lay prestige (which, again, is valued differently by different people). Within many academic/intellectual circles, UChicago is probably held in higher esteem than Columbia.

Hi everyone...first post I've been WLed at Columbia and it's my first choice. I've sent in an LOCi, but as for an updated transcript, would you guys recommend my giving it to them in person since I'm in NYC? (I know that I'll probably have to go through a secretary, but still) Will it show that I am really interested, or will it annoy them? Or will it not make a difference? Might it be safer to send it via e-mail so that I know someone received it?
