I think that they thought that the person was definitely not going and just sending in the essay for the hell of it. They're already in at HLS.

EDIT: But I would think that the same thing could be said for most of the people who were invited to send the essays (they're HYS caliber and overqualified for Chicago), so I'm not sure what they're trying to establish with this exercise.

How do they let people know decisions? Phone for accept, what for WL and Reject?

They notify WLs & rejects via email.

Time to turn off my e-mails then... Me and Chicago are polar opposites in economics views and my views come out crystal clear in my application. I would still consider going there, especially if they let me sit in on other classes in the school.

I went complete on 12/14.

From what other people ITT have been saying, U of C seems to have a more holistic review process than most people give them credit for & won't ding someone solely based on the fact that their views conflict with the prevailing views at U of C...so I wouldn't worry about that part of my app if I were you.

I can't imagine any school wants a completely homogeneous class, in political/economic views or in future plans. Chicago isn't Pepperdine or Liberty; I doubt they will ding every person who expresses opposing views, wants to go into PI, etc.

To be fair, they might when the opposing views are objectively incorrect.

It is their undergrad, but still funny. I am mainly joking about them keeping me out. I actually think it will help in getting into the law school.

UR 2/2 and 2/11 here (pretty sure I have the first date right). I went complete 12/3.

Shouldn't tomorrow be another batch of admits, and next week the WL/rejections?

Everyone goes UR at least twice before decisions are made. Some people go UR three times. Chicago will announce beforehand that they will be releasing decisions soon before they actually do it. What will happen is people go UR once or twice and then all of those people go UR again on the same date when they have a full committee meeting. Usually after that meeting, the next day acceptances will go out.

No problem. In the past, it has been epic chaos around here on committee review days and so you can tell pretty quickly what's going on. Not positive that will be the same the next time around but I think it's likely.

UR 2/25 as well (first UR 2/19). Complete 12/15.
