+1. "Writing drunk emails to admissions office" is probably in the top 10 worst things to do when applying to law school. hahacatwomangirl wrote:How drunk was this drunk email?avd90 wrote:so I'm 1/31.. I got drunk/annoyed and emailed them yesterday. This is what I received...
Dear AVD90,
There is nothing wrong with your file, and because your application was complete before our deadline, we will have a decision for you by mid-April.
Best wishes,

To whom it may concern:
I am writing to check the status of my application to Cornell. I have not seen any movement on the status checker since going complete 1/31. I just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong with my file that was keeping it from going to review.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

not really drunk, as much as I was drunk so I had enough balls to actually send something/

has anyone sent a LOCI? Is email appropriate, or snail mail only? I'm in CA, so the faster it gets there, the better

I snail-mailed it, but only because I figured it would force them to read it. You could probably email and be fine, though.butifuldisastr wrote:has anyone sent a LOCI? Is email appropriate, or snail mail only? I'm in CA, so the faster it gets there, the better
On a side note, has anyone gotten financial aid yet? They said I'd find out soon after all of my documents were in (and they've been in for a while). I'm chomping at the bit.

Yea.. but I thought Cornell's deadline was Feb 1st? I really have no idea. Waiting for LSAT scores makes some sense though, especially since there may be applicants who are retaking.Blumpbeef wrote:I had an idea in the UVA thread: Schools were waiting for February LSAT scoresgaud wrote:Seems like a slow week or something...

It makes sense, but is it even possible to have schools consider a February LSAT in this cycle? I agree -- I thought the deadline kept them from doing so.Blumpbeef wrote:Ya, that's what I meant.gaud wrote:there may be applicants who are retaking.

Maybe the drop in applicants may be forcing Cornell to consider February LSATs in order to maintain their stats?la Rochejaquelein wrote:It makes sense, but is it even possible to have schools consider a February LSAT in this cycle? Sending in final LOCI, hope to get off the "reserve" list.

Anybody else notice the jump in award money this cycle? Any ideas why?
This year, I'm seeing several awards of 144k on LSN. Last year, with one exception, the awards seem to top out at 135k.

The 144k is because the deans scholarship went up to 48k/year for a total of 144k, and I think last year it was only 45k/year. I'm not sure about tuition.cogitoergosum wrote:Did tuition go up by 3k/yr? Maybe that could be it?MachineLemon wrote:Anybody else notice the jump in award money this cycle? Any ideas why?

Interesting, I sent my financial aid info in already. Is everyone automatically considered for the dean's scholarship? Seems that non-named scholarship don't typically require a special application.46nyc wrote:The 144k is because the deans scholarship went up to 48k/year for a total of 144k, and I think last year it was only 45k/year.
