Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
I submitted the first week of November and went complete 2/12. This is fucking retarded & I don't care anymore. I want my application fee refunded. Four months and my application has not even been reviewed?

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
When I called them waaaay back before I went complete, I was told that they did it by order of submission, absolutely. I'm confused about how that could be, if you compare our dates. Mine are (roughly): Submitted early December, went complete the first week of February, and under review in early March.ukgrad wrote:I submitted the first week of November and went complete 2/12. Have you called them? Maybe they lost something? That's really the only charitable explanation I can come up with.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
I submitted 12/7 been complete since 2/9.
Since that is ridiculous I emailed them and they responded that they expect to have made all decisions by mid-April, so hopefully soon everyone will have some news. We'll see whether it actually played out that way.

I'm sure this has been asked, but what is Cornell's reserve like? How likely is admission off their glorified wait list?

GAHHH!!! I still haven't gone back in review after being deferred from EA on 12/14
Is anyone else in the same boat, or should I call and see what's going on?

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
in the past cornell has had a 20% matriculation rate, which is on the low end for a t14. then again, their class is small so it really depends. also, cornell had really good nlj numbers this past year (much higher than their average in an unpredictable economy, so take it FWIW) but i'm guessing at least a few people will be considering cornell a little more than they would have had the nlj numbers been more average for cornell this year. so, what i'm saying is, lots of factorsAdamAndSteve wrote:I'm sure this has been asked, but what is Cornell's reserve like? ETA: then again, maybe very few 0Ls outside of those who hit up internet message boards about lolschool look at the nlj numbers, so perhaps this wouldn't matter at all. who knows

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
how many 0Ls who are driven and focused enough to get into Cornell don't look at TLS? Of course you can't assume that, but come on I would think you'd have to stumble upon it after all that research/work.paulinaporizkova wrote:in the past cornell has had a 20% matriculation rate, which is on the low end for a t14. then again, their class is small so it really depends. also, cornell had really good nlj numbers this past year (much higher than their average in an unpredictable economy, so take it FWIW) but i'm guessing at least a few people will be considering cornell a little more than they would have had the nlj numbers been more average for cornell this year. so, what i'm saying is, lots of factorsAdamAndSteve wrote:I'm sure this has been asked, but what is Cornell's reserve like? Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
no, you can't assume that. LSN only accounts for roughly 10% of all applicants in a given cycle at the very top schools. i don't know stats for TLS but they can't be that much different from each other. also, i applied and got into cornell and other t14s before i ever started heaving trolling this site or LSN - it's more common than you think, especially since if you ARE on this site a lot you likely consider it much more valuable than someone who is never on it, so your thinking that other people just have to know this stuff because it's common knowledge around here doesn't really follow.Perch wrote:how many 0Ls who are driven and focused enough to get into Cornell don't look at TLS? Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Whoa. I have news.
Submitted 12/6
Complete 2/11
Decision via e-mail today: Accepted!
Well, that's nice, but this acceptance fish is being thrown back in the water. I'm not gonna stay in upstate New York for 3 more years after that ridiculous length of an admission decision.
Hope the spot goes to someone who can stand the black hole of Ithaca!
It's just not for me.

Just talked to admissions office and they said you need to fill out need access and FAFSA to be considered for merit aid.
I hate it when they do that.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
I already did all that - which is good.
They were a little weird in the materials though - the financial aid session confused me. Do I have to respond by April 15th? or since I may not get my financial info for a while, can I respond a week after that? I'll probably just call admissions and ask.
EDIT: I also hate when they do that.

IN. Had I think 2 review dates, interview, and then another review date.
I'm going to call them tomorrow and get some in depth answers about response time/awards. I have a scholarship I need to take action on by the 15th, so I'd really like some word in the next week to compare offers.
Will report back.
