I'm left wondering the same thing. I got a scholarship and more qualified applicants get WL or Rejected.akili wrote:How did I not get waitlisted?

Re: Michigan 2011
With all these high numbers getting wait-listed today I think it's clear that Michigan is either yield-protecting or the class is full. Since the latter is unlikely, I think we have to assume that at least some of what is going on is YP. If you look at LSN, it's clear that many candidates with lower numbers have already been offered admission. Also, take a look at last year's cycle. if you remember that LSN represents only a fraction of the overall number of applicants, Michigan clearly accepted hundreds of people last year who withdrew. I think it might be the case that Michigan is trying to avoid a repeat of that by "waitlisting" candidates this year with high numbers.
I haven't heard a peep from Michigan myself, but have been watching the surprising deluge today with horror . . .

It could be YP or it could be "holistic review."artemis178 wrote:With all these high numbers getting wait-listed today I think it's clear that Michigan is either yield-protecting or the class is full. If you look at the graph there are rejections, waitlists, and acceptance all mixed together. There isn't a clear cut-off above which you are rejected.
Not saying it definitively is or isn't YP. I'm just saying, I have no clue what is going on in that admissions building.

Haha the graph looks like a dot-based mural. That's true too, I suppose. And, I am definitely supportive of a more holistic review of candidates (at least in theory

I am out-of-state, above 75th percentile GPA, at 25th percentile LSAT, sent 12/9, status checker 1/13...
No WL, no rejection. What are we thinking for the people that haven't heard a peep?

You're probably not gonna be WLed. If you look at the decision dates last year, all WLs were the same day. Good luck.noncontributingzero wrote:I am out-of-state, above 75th percentile GPA, at 25th percentile LSAT, sent 12/9, status checker 1/13...

This looks like a yp slaughter. Could they be out of scholarship $? If so, then all of these hysccn prospects aren't attending umich w/o $$.

Re: Michigan 2011
It's hard to call it holistic review when people who get into S/H get WLed. I think it's more dependent on how likely they think you are to attend in conjunction with how much money they would have to give you to have a shot. If you had a S/H quality application, but Michigan for whatever reason didn't want to offer you a huge scholarship, they might as well WL you.artemis178 wrote:That's true too, I suppose. Oof. My gut says ding, but I am always preparing myself for the worst. I was fully expecting a WL since that seems to be how my cycle is playing out everywhere else.Flips88 wrote:I'm with you, except below 25th LSAT. Haven't received WL. I'm exactly at both medians and still holding out a tiny bit of hope because I escaped today.
I got my status checker on 2/10 though... so they probably just haven't gotten around to waitlisting me yet.

Waitlist today.

The two schools I loved the most, and would have gone if I received a scholarship (which was very possible based on last year's applicants), Michigan and Duke, both waitlisted me.
Very sad day, really.

I totally expected a waitlist today, but nothing. Sent 11/5, Complete 12/10. Re-took in December, sent an LSAT addendum early January, and sent in a LOCI earlier this month hoping to prevent YP. I wonder if I only survived today because I sent in additional materials and I'm now at the bottom of the pile.

Did anyone fill out the survey yet? What does it ask? I still haven't decided whether I want to be considered for any summer start openings or not...does it ask that?

I've written a Why Michigan and LOCI, plus I've been in contact with the office, so that's the only reason why I think I escaped. I really don't think I'm going to get dinged, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an acceptance since I didn't get the WL today. I applied 10/18, though, so it seems like I would have been accepted already if that was the plan...

Yeah, it asks whether you want to be considered for summer start only, fall start only, or both. I'm not moving across the country and starting law school two weeks after I graduate, so I said fall start again.amkid100 wrote:Did anyone fill out the survey yet? What does it ask? Waitlist email asks you to fill out a survey asking whether you still want to be considered, and for what term.arism87 wrote:Sorry, just making sure I didn't miss anything- what survey?Bildungsroman wrote:Yeah, it asks whether you want to be considered for summer start only, fall start only, or both.
