Ha I'm the opposite of you, Fips, the potential frattiness of UVA/Duke are the only downsides to me at this point. But yeah I agree with Jimmy. Plus MyLSN shows me getting pretty good money from UVA and Duke, but barely anything from NYU or Columbia.slippin_jimmy wrote:Me and Barley are both interested into PI, so maybe COL is a bigger factor? I am eating "Southern Butter Pecan" flavored ice cream right now because it seems proper given my newfound Southern school hype.

My thing is that while going to school in Chicago or NYC would be cool, being a poor law student and knowing that I'm accumulating interest on my COL would probably ruin it.fips tedora wrote:I've been drinking the UVA/Duke kool-aid since I graduated from frat life, yet I would still take NYU/Columbia over both in a heartbeat.barley wrote:Ughhh I'm looking up apartments in Durham and Charlottesville right now and they would be so cheap and beautiful for my future dog and me... On top of COL, quality of living (really just housing...) matters a ton to me too. I'm such a homebody and I am not a happy camper if I don't have a clean, bright, and not tiny place to live. I don't mind shelling out a lil more to live somewhere nice, but I feel like anywhere I could afford in NYC would not fit those criteria.benwyatt wrote:As someone who grew up in the south but moved to NYC a few years ago there's a definite appeal to the southern schools and the COL aspect only sweetens the dealdoublehoohopeful wrote:My thing is that while going to school in Chicago or NYC would be cool, being a poor law student and knowing that I'm accumulating interest on my COL would probably ruin it.fips tedora wrote:I've been drinking the UVA/Duke kool-aid since I graduated from frat life, yet I would still take NYU/Columbia over both in a heartbeat.barley wrote:Ughhh I'm looking up apartments in Durham and Charlottesville right now and they would be so cheap and beautiful for my future dog and me... I can only speak for C'ville, but you can get a pretty nice place for about $600 per month. You can't buy a NYC broom closet with that.barley wrote:On top of COL, quality of living (really just housing...) matters a ton to me too. I was looking at Ivy Gardens, which is a five minute walk from the law school. It seems like a bunch of Darden and law school people live there.Generally wrote:600$!? If you're willing to broaden your search, you can find stuff in the $400/month range, but those are a bit tougher to find.

You're also surrounded by this at UVA:

Sorry to be contrarian, but I'm just not a huge fan of Virginia (the state). It's either poor and ghetto, rich and entitled, or country as all hell. UVA is kind of in the boonies too.doublehoohopeful wrote:You're also surrounded by this at UVA:

But I don't want to go to Cornell.Hildegard15 wrote:Yay Cornell!basedvulpes wrote:I would like to throw Cornell into this mix.barley wrote:So its settled then, right? Everyone ITT to UVA or Duke? I have no preference between the two.

We could compromise and just start our own law school?

Hilde, I've said this a dozen times, but we have the same stats. I also think Whacka might get it if he applies (because Dillard). I don't really know everyone else's stats off the top of my head, but there's no reason to say no to Stanford.Hildegard15 wrote:You're the only one of us with a chance in hell at Stanford :pDcc617 wrote:Come on ya'll, let's go to Stanford (please don't crush my dreams).basedvulpes wrote:I would like to throw Cornell into this mix.barley wrote:So its settled then, right?
