We all await WUSTL's merciful financial aid release.JXander wrote:Got a lovely admit packet today...thought it was a scholarship offer.

WUSTL has typically been the most generous of their peer schools so I couldn't find much on scholarship negotiations.Spikedude wrote:Can anyone share their experience negotiating a higher scholarship from WUSTL?

My thought go out to you. How hard do you plan on pursuing the WUSTL waitlist>admit?wannabelawstudent wrote:wah wah.....looks like I'm headed towards the waitlist.

I don't think you are going to be waitlisted. That LSN graph is looking crazy splitter friendly. If you are it might just be a formality because don't they not include WLed people's stats in the USNW rankings? Idk where I got that idea from...wannabelawstudent wrote:wah wah.....looks like I'm headed towards the waitlist.

What? No. Medians come from matriculants, regardless of how they were accepted.rabbitrun wrote:I don't think you are going to be waitlisted. That LSN graph is looking crazy splitter friendly. I think me and Crowing are the only re-applicants in this thread..but I'll share my experience. Keep in mind that there are entire threads on TLS about how to negotiate scholarships.dproduct wrote:WUSTL has typically been the most generous of their peer schools so I couldn't find much on scholarship negotiations.Spikedude wrote:Can anyone share their experience negotiating a higher scholarship from WUSTL?

WUSTL had a 168 wall last year, I had a 169/2.9 and got 54k initially. They boosted it up to 60k after the first deposit deadline. I told them about a 20k scholly from GW, since that was the next highest scholly i got (Vandy gave me like 15k). At the time GW was ranked lower and 20K is less than 60K. They still boosted my scholarship. I'm not sure if it was directly because of my GW offer, but there weren't any vibes of "Erm broski, they're ranked lower and offered u less, why should we care?"
The takeaway is that you should tell them about every offer you have from every school. Forget considerations about "is this a peer school or not." That's for them to decide.
Also, WUSTL, and most other schools, will:
1. Probably not be as generous initially. They have no reason to when they have no idea of who's actually interested or not..which leads to...
2. They most likely won't make any decisions regarding a scholly boost until after the first/second deposit, as they figure out how badly they need your numbers and how much money they can move around to make revenue work out.
My advice would be to tell them about your others offers as the first deadline approaches. Hopefully they'll boost it after that. Remember that WUSTL doesn't allow you to be deposited at multiple schools by your second deposit, or your scholly will be in jeopardy. So the leverage is as follows:
Before and after first deposit: "I have offers from other schools, and I will go to a diff school if you don't give me more"
After second deposit: "I can't afford to attend law school at all unless you give me more" (Because you'll presumably be only deposited at WUSTL and maybe on the waitlist at other schools)

Did you deposit or let the deadline pass? I'm still wide open in terms of where I will end up because a) I haven't heard from a bunch of my top options and b) it's likely going to come down to a top scholarship offer. I'm trying to figure out how to make the most of things without paying 10 deposits or losing a spot at a school.cusenation wrote:
