If you actually want to get in, write the essays. Johann and the admissions team appreciate effort.

Thanks:)

I'll go against my original inclination to write why I'd like to meet Dexter Morgan.

Haha, you could probably spin that in various ways that would appeal to the admissions committee of a law school :)

It'd probably get read by the one person who wouldn't find it amusing or interesting in any shape or form that I'd willingly have dinner with a serial killer.

Honestly, I doubt any of those people are on the NU admissions committee. HBO purposely writes Dexter as a sympathetic character; it's not like you're writing about sitting down with John Wayne Gacy. (Although that could be spun too, I imagine.)

What I would avoid is writing about TV lawyers. Nobody from Law & Order, Ally McBeal, Suits, The Good Wife, etc. Maybe an exception for The West Wing. :P

It's on Netflix now, which is great because my DVD set is aging and some of the disks are all scratched up. I don't want to replace it because I have faith that SOMEDAY they'll release the whole set on blu-ray.

brb writing about meeting Larry David and chilling with his fictional family until some little inconvenience occurs that results in a tirade of vulgarity and disappointment

We should probably do West Wing marathons in law school.
Have you tried House of Cards? It doesn't give me the same warm, fuzzy feeling as the West Wing (and it has no Josh Lyman) but its not bad.

No danger of that. I've never watched an episode of any of those shows. I'm more of a reader.

With that said, I hereby endorse the Dexter books. HILARIOUS!! And much, much different from the series, so there is no worry about a lack of suspense.

Arrested development is by far one of the best shows. By the way, Dester is on Showtime, not HBO.

Game of thrones! Coming up in March!

Showtime and HBO are both channels I don't get, so I get them mixed up.

For AJD, how many are still awaiting a decision? Johann mentioned there were some late comers. And for those already accepted, when's the deposit deadline? Apologies if this info was posted, and I missed it in the thread somewhere.

Deposit deadline March 15, financial aid packages sent around March 1 and the following week.

What about Edward and Bella?

Also, did anyone already mention the new post on Johann's blog where he says that no JD waitlist exists at this time; rather everyone is on hold?

If I were to sum up my reasons for applying to law school in two words they would be: Bleak House.

Soooo apparently I went from the waitlist to a hold, but I withdrew when I was waitlisted because I knew there was no chance for financial aid. Now that I'm on hold, I wouldn't mind being on hold BUT I'm afraid because I previously withdrew, the law school will think I'm not interested. Should I send them an email explaining as much?

:?: :?: :?: :?: how do you go from a waitlist to a hold..? And they transitioned you as a hold even after you withdrew?? Very confused. But FWIW, if you are indeed still a candidate, then yes I think you should send them an email or something.

(Put aside any reservations about "looking desperate", that junk don't matta. Acceptances matter.)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
