I'd amend that to say everyone who wasn't an autoadmit was held, b/c a bunch of november and I think even a few december submitters heard, but for most of us it's been either a hold or silence.Doorkeeper wrote:Yea, I really think the November applications for some reason hit them at a bad time and they just basically held people across the board. Maybe with the application reviews, plus KS1+2 already scheduled, plus rejections that they just had to hold a big batch of applications.snehpets wrote:I think they held almost everyone (or said nothing to them) that submitted after a certain date. People with really awesome numbers were held and people with really low numbers were held. It doesn't seem to mean much.masked kavana wrote:Do you think a larger number of URMs were held this cycle to account for the drop in applicants?
I am a non-URM Latino and was held with really low stats...

Anyone who applied relatively late (last week of January-ish) go UR yet?

Applied on 1/18, Application Received in status checker since 1/18. No UR. Hoping that is normal.

So I just made an important discovery (that thousands have probably made and discussed before me)... Harvard releases the majority of its decisions on Thursdays!

So would you be referring to KB/JS2's or to rejections?hypothalamus wrote:So I just made an important discovery (that thousands have probably made and discussed before me)... Harvard releases the majority of its decisions on Thursdays!

I went to LSN and sorted the applicants by decision date. The prominent decisions dates, such as Jan 19, Jan 12, Dec 22 and others, all seem to fall on Thursdays. This is not to say decisions don't ever come out on other days... but A LOT of them have come out (or have been registered as having come out) on Thursdays.Lovely Ludwig Van wrote:Where ya getting that from sis? Has this trend stayed constant as the director of admissions has changed? Maybe KB liked to do it Thursdays, but JS will like another date. I think the new director throws most procedural stuff out of the window.hypothalamus wrote:I went to LSN and sorted the applicants by decision date. But I thought about it a little, and it kind of makes sense. NYU, for example, sends confirmation emails on Tuesdays - obviously this is just an analogy, but it might be more efficient to release decisions on a certain day of week, which serves as an (arbitrary) deadline every week.
Or I might just be imagining the trend

Haha. We're all hoping for some rationality in the face of uncertainty. I wonder if this was the case in 2009-2010, and/or 2010-2011..I'm too lazy to look it up.hypothalamus wrote:Well, she just started two days agoDoorkeeper wrote:Has this trend stayed constant as the director of admissions has changed? Looking at past years it seems like they released some jr2s on Thursday. But when the spring time hit they started to release jr1s on Wedenesdays, holds and rejections on Friday and jr2s on Monday. But since they haven't released decisions in over a month I feel like when they do start they will have to move faster to make up for lost time.

My sources say the rest of the applicants will be dinged outright on Thursday, since JS does not want the students admitted by KB and by her to be in same class, as the success of Class of 2015, or lack thereof, will ultimately reflect on the assistant dean that admitted them.

Is this like those unnamed "sources" that ESPN uses when it unveils totally unfounded stories?Nulli Secundus wrote:My sources say the rest of the applicants will be dinged outright on Thursday, since JS does not want the students admitted by KB and by her to be in same class, as the success of Class of 2015, or lack thereof, will ultimately reflect on the assistant dean that admitted them.

If HLS does have people reading blogs like TLS, it's probably just so they can sort out the trollsNulli Secundus wrote:Just trolling out of boredom.Byzantine wrote:Is this like those unnamed "sources" that ESPN uses when it unveils totally unfounded stories?Nulli Secundus wrote:My sources say the rest of the applicants will be dinged outright on Thursday, since JS does not want the students admitted by KB and by her to be in same class, as the success of Class of 2015, or lack thereof, will ultimately reflect on the assistant dean that admitted them.

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
I think the days of the week are not planned. I had my KB2 on a Monday (11/21) and I'm pretty sure my KB1 was on a Wednesday. They definitely seem to announce a bunch of decisions on one day (as opposed to doing a few here and a few there scattered throughout the week), but I don't think it's planned like, "Let's do acceptances on Thursdays and KB1's on Tuesdays" or anything like that.sharktankdean wrote:Looking at past years it seems like they released some jr2s on Thursday. Good luck to everyone still waiting, though! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for all of you!

And so the Office of Admissions wakes from its long slumber. Out of pure curiosity, who was the email signed by?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
