I just had a revelation.

I think us 4/18 IR people are the batch that they are REALLY on the borderline about. Not too stunning of a revelation I know, but hear me out...

I suspect if they were to WL us, they would be afraid of losing us to other schools, so USC might purposely be giving us no response at all until their wave of deposits are in and they have a better sense of how many ppl they can admit.

So in other words, we are stuck in limbo, stronger than regular WL but not as good as admit, but might as well be the de facto WL.

Taking a stab at it, recall a bunch of people went into review on 4/7 and then were wlsted or df later that week. I also remember a lot of rejections from the df bunch. Maybe out of that entire 4/7 group, they winnowed it down to us, and now we are being considered for the few spots they have left at this point. But whoooo knowwws

Ok, so I accept your specutlations. Now, how long do you speculate that we will be in review? I just made it into review 4/18, and I feel lucky not to have been denied so far.

I speculate all the way into early May after USC gets a better idea of who's enrolling this upcoming fall.

4/18 IR already looking like a DF flop..... but better than rejection I suppose.

guys, never underestimate the possibility your apps got lost. this is a lot of paper work when a school has 1000s of applicants, and at any school at least 5 get lost. never underestimate the likelihood of being one of those 5. also, you can always LOCI if it's been 5 months.

from the language of the email and prior emails i would assume so. i got one. as far as i can tell, the initial emails informing us of the wait list included a bit about the video interview, and it doesn't look like they distinguished between candidates on the latest email by whether they had already submitted the video since they included this bit: "If you have already submitted your interview," so why would they distinguish based on applicant strength when they supposedly have an unranked wait list when they don't distinguish by anything else on your application?

So I would say yes, the emails went to everyone on the wait list.

That's what I thought. But nobody posted anything on the matter and usually a couple posts follow any updates from schools.
