Earlier in the cycle they were often all acceptances, but as the cycle has progressed there have been more mixed bag batches. If you get an update and don't receive a ding via email that day, you either were accepted or a decision has yet to be made, at least that is how it has worked so far.

Good luck! I have a group interview next Friday in Miami! I really have no idea what to expect so if you could share your experience with me I'd really appreciate it! I've heard its pretty informal and that there are simply a lot of admissions related questions and hypotheticals.

Updated to 1/5, got a group interview request so I probably won't hear until after my interview! Hopefully the interview goes well, I really like Georgetown!!

How many people got interview requests/have people gotten in without the interview? Some cursory Googling and browsing TLS forums seem to imply that they are for splitters/borderline candidates but I feel like everyone posting in this thread has had/is scheduled for one.

I haven't gotten an interview request, complete 11/30, 2 updates, most recent 1/5. 3.73/170 so not a splitter but I would say borderline...

I doubt a 170 (median) with slightly above GPA (3.73, median is 3.67) should be considered borderline. Georgetown needs about 250-300 people with a 170 or higher for their class. You'll be fine if your application has no major turnoffs. [added following] if 75th is 171 and 50th is 170, there could be anywhere up to 130 or so exact 170s in their class (sure, could be fewer, but still, you're an attractive candidate, if not auto-admit).

Appreciate it, I try to keep myself pessimistic after undergrad disappointment (I was blindly optimistic about getting into Stanford, before I realized that it's essentially a lotto ticket because everyone who applies there is so qualified). Still, does anyone know anything about their interview system?

I got the e-mail for the group interview and I'm going up there next week. I'm 165/3.87 (URM- MA). I think its for borderline candidates as well as for demonstrating interest from candidates who may be blanketing the T-14 as a form of YP? That's what I'm hoping.

Well generally, we just sat in a group of about 15-16 and he went through a little spiel about why we were there and such. He said 55 people made up the first year class that had participated in a group interview and about 150 people elected to participate this year.

He posed a question to us, pretending as if we were the dean of admissions, and had us discuss what we looked for in an applicant and basically how to decide who gets in and who doesn't. Then, he asked about our opinions on affirmative action and legacies playing a part in deciding between two individuals, with all other things equal. Finally, he gave us two application files (whom he later told us were both part of this year's 1L class) and asked us to decide between them.

My advice to you is to just relax. I got there pretty early and talked with some of the people beforehand, so we went in to the interview with a good feel of each other and felt at least a little bit of camaraderie at the beginning. Overall, everyone was great and discussed things well among one another. Also, make sure to talk some, but not too much (he will tell you that at the beginning). I wouldn't sweat it too much though, it's not too bad once you start talking. Good luck!

*edit* One caveat though, don't expect yours to follow this exact format. I'm sure he will change things around for the different groups of people, but this is just a general guideline.

I haven't heard of anyone yet. I predict that they're going to get back into the pattern of admitting students on Mondays, and hopefully we'll all get another update then....I'm trying to be patient and calm until then (though it's clearly not working since I'm on tls at the gym. Woops.).
