pretty similar stats...It seems like there is a pretty sizable chunk of early applicants with untraditional numbers (splitter, reverse splitter..etc) that still haven't heard. It seems unlikely that Dean Tom is mulling over all of our early applications, especially when there seem to be so many. I can't help but think the no-FR and no word since October means we're just waiting for the rejection letters to be signed, sealed &{ deliveredJetstoRJC wrote:Under review since 10/22...still trying to figure out what this no FR, no rejection status means. So i just talked to one of my friends who is a 1L. He is def. one of the smartest people I know...3.8 in college >175 blah blah blah. He worked his ass off first semester and got all P's. It seems that if you are lucky enough to get in, the competition will be FIERCE.

You set on NYU then? I'm still not 100% sure that I'm going, but I'm really anxious to visit. Either way, I'm gonna miss Berkeley. She's been good to me.TheWire wrote: u worried about transitioning to the east coast? cuz I am...

Re: Berkeley 2010
instead of everybody who is still UR from a long time ago just whining about how it's confusing, how about we all post our stats and a scale of 1-10 of how good we consider our softs and when we went UR to really try to get to the bottom of this?
1--straight out of UG, no extra curriculars
5--1 year WE after an undergrad with no extra curriculars OR right out of UG with a ton of relevant extra curriculars
10--military, peace corps, TFA
And somewhere up there also factor in how good you think your PS is
168 3.7, 8
UR 11/2

Good idea.
UR 11/2. 163, 3.6, softs+WE = 8 or so. Also URM. My PS wasn't Berk-specific, but I feel like it was pretty good.
The indecision on me, I would bet, is on those numbers

Already we're getting somewhere. The two of you are probably in the same pile (whatever that pile may be). I can only hope that I am with you also but my UR date might indicate otherwise. hopefully people keep posting this information.
Have we considered the fact that we might all be bound for the WL? Does anybody get WLed BEFORE going FR?

In past years, the only way to receive a WL is through (and after) Faculty Review. I think we're either on Rejection Row or there will be another batch of FR/Admit e-mails coming soon.imisscollege wrote:Already we're getting somewhere. It seems at least somewhat unlikely that we're all on rejection row, doesn't it? Or am I just being unrealistically optimistic?

Oh, I'm totally with you. I know people with 171+ and 3.8+ who have been UR since early November who are in our situation. I don't think we're all on rejection row. What's unsettling is that this year Berkeley is doing things differently. Two years ago, a friend of mine received her FR e-mail in mid-December. They're switching things around (or at least delaying things) this year. All I can do is speculate and try to keep some optimism. But this waiting game is making me lose some sanity. I hope I didn't sound too much like a negative Nancy before.imisscollege wrote:It seems at least somewhat unlikely that we're all on rejection row, doesn't it? Re: Berkeley 2010
This year is a really unpredictable admissions cycle, so we're all kind of feeling it at this point since most of us submitted our applications months ago. It's so hard to predict what's going to happen, but I don't think that we're all doomed just yet.

Don't forget, there was a state imposed furlough this year causing the process to come to a halt.sandiecohen47 wrote:Oh, I'm totally with you. I saw Dean Tom in the hallway yesterday. He is alive and his eyeballs were not (yet) bleeding from reading 8,000+ applications.

UR 11/9
161/167
3.71/(3.93)
6 (About 9 years WE, but none -after- my UG degree).
PS - 6ish. It was OK, but nothing amazing. Half of it was Berk specific.
