Do you think that the "be patient" email is the equivalent of a "hold" for Columbia?

Hey folks,

It's my understanding that all RTK interview decisions have been made. That means, we've read all the applications and so if you are still UR, I'm afraid the ship has sailed. Sorry about that, assuming there were still hopefuls.

I cannot confirm this 100%, but I imagine all interview invites have gone out or will have gone out by Friday. We are on Spring Break as of Friday, and while Administrators are on work, things do tend to slow down. So I think it is fair for you to assume that if you haven't gotten an invite this week, the chances you will get an invite have taken a precipitous drop.

I know I'm sharing to bits of harsh news, my intention is to make sure you folks aren't waiting on something and potentially jeopardizing other options at other schools because of this process happening in the dark.

For those that have received an interview invitation, there is a post I have elsewhere giving tips but I'm happy to answer PMs as well.

As an aside, I know a lot of you are still UR. Take this from a 3L: NYU is NOT a big deal. If you have money elsewhere, just take the money and run. Don't pay sticker here. Please. It's not worth the risk or the subsequent hardship. I redouble my advice for those considering public interest. LRAP/IBR are discretionary programs that can be changed/nixed at any moment.

Does this apply to AnBryce as well? I really had hope about NYU, but I can't even get them to read my damn file...

Can't speak to AnBryce but they interview same weekend as us so I imagine they'd have to be near or at the end of their invite phase...

PS I submitted 11/15-->went UR3 2/23 after sending them a "Why NYU" essay....did not receive "be patient" email

Update: ASW worked around 1 pm and just received call (around 420 pm)

Wow Congrats!! May I ask when did you send they "Why NYU" essay?
Cause I sent "why NYU" yesterday and wonder whether there would be any movement in the next wave..

Got in today! My first law school acceptance. Yee-haw! Got a voice mail as I was getting off a flight for work.

Still waiting on HYSCC but at least I officially got into a T6 school. Yay!

Every year we receive many more highly qualified applicants than we can accommodate for interviews, but we try to get as many of you here as possible. There will probably be several more people contacted for interview requests.

I turned in my application October, 20th 2016 and my "Current Status Date" still says 11/28...I got the "be patient" email on 2/24, but no other mailings or updates since November when it went UR1. Is this basically a "no" for me? I have been waitlisted at multiple higher ranked schools and accepted to Penn/ Berkeley/GTown/Northwestern...so I didn't think it was THAT much of a reach? I sent a LOCI in January and an "App Update" in Feb...still radio silence. NYU is my top choice so I just want them to like say hey or something you know? lol

yes they responded with the standard "thank you for the update we will add this to your application" email - but they responded with the same text to both updates so I figured it's just a standard thing they send to everyone! thanks though that makes me feel much better! haha and good luck to you too...i know the pain

Hey, thank you so much for all of the helpful info and updates on this! As someone who is really not expecting the RTK interview but hasn't been dinged yet, i'm just curious if you have any read on whether the hold on my app will hurt me for receiving normal merit aid? It's my understanding that they don't evaluate you for dean's scholarships until you've been denied from RTK, so i'm wondering if the pool of merit aid will continue to dwindle while i'm waiting.

Has anybody else had issue with the NYU financial aid app? every time I try to sign in it gives me an error message about some ID/session number already being associated with another session and I'm confused. it's probably a computer issue on my end but just want to verify.

Yes! I emailed and they said Flash needs to be enabled, so I tried on a different browser and it worked fine.
