I am so on board with this cat-atar. My fiance told me to post a picture of Nala pinning Simba and say it was an analogy for how I was going to tackle Harvard. I'm like
I'm not taking any chances on Harvard with a cartoon.

While I agree in the real world sending thank you notes is just a common courteously and typically well received, I believe the reason that's not the case in admissions is because the admissions staff is already so bogged down with unnecessary correspondence that creating more can come off as inconsiderate and annoying.

How many JS1s has Harvard offered/are they projected to still offer? And does anybody know around what time they stopped offering them last year? Since it's already February, anxiety is starting to take me over.

I definitely identify with your anxiety. Based on what's been said on this thread it looks like previous years aren't very predictive of this years cycle. But, anecdotally, it seems like Harvard interviews throughout the cycle and the have offered maybe 65% of the total interview spots they offered by the end of last years cycle.Oskosh wrote:How many JS1s has Harvard offered/are they projected to still offer? Interview timing seems to have something to do with your numbers as well. People with JS1's please correct me if I'm wrong but it seems the majority of interviews extended so far have been to people above at least one median, i.e. either above one/ at the other, or to splitters. At least that's what I'm telling myself as someone around both medians.
Also the cat avatar does seem to give a substantial admissions bump.

On thank you notes -- from what I've read here (and my personal experience), it's not a bad idea, and it won't hurt you if you send one. Just trying to be clear that not sending one will not hurt you (with the possible exception of in-person alum interviews for Georgetown and other schools that do those). If you feel compelled, by all means do it, but it won't be counted against you if you don't.

Before the waitlist? Up until mid-March. After the waitlist? All the way until July (though most in May).Oskosh wrote:How many JS1s has Harvard offered/are they projected to still offer? Up until 2/8 last year, there were 147 JS1s reported on TLS and 91 JS2s. This year, there are 143 JS1s and 73 JS2s.
Although the cycle has been different, it seems to me like they might be caught up after that huge super-wave this week (maybe slightly behind on JS2s but could just be random variance).

I hope they're still slightly behind on JS2s. I turned my ring tone to cat sounds, just waiting for that purrfect call!

Awesome, thanks for the info. By "15 next week", do you mean 15 this upcoming week, or the week starting 2/15?leslieknope wrote:There were 40 slots available when I scheduled mine on Friday- about 15 next week and 25 the week after (yes I counted haha).

Hey all, was wondering if somewhere on this site there's a compiled list of JS1 interview questions applicants have faced in the past?

When prepping for my interview I made this list, it's a compilation from forums, pms and from harvard alums I know:jaywil08 wrote:Hey all, was wondering if somewhere on this site there's a compiled list of JS1 interview questions applicants have faced in the past?
Questions List
What questions do you have for me?
Why do you want to go to law school?
Why do you want to go to Harvard in particular?
What is the most interesting or meaningful experience you had during undergrad?
Why law school immediately before other experience?
What area/courses/professors are you interested in?
Why did you choose to study [your majors]?
What have you gained through working [all the stuff you've worked on]?
What have you gained through [other activities]?
What have you gained from your [extra-curricular endeavours]?
Have any of those experiences informed your decision to go to law?
What do you think would be your greatest challenge at Harvard?
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
What do you envision a successful career for yourself would look like?
Anything you were hoping I’d ask? Anything not in your app?
When have you been in an awkward/challenging position and resolved it?
How will you add to diversity (reference to statement)?
What cultural identity or culture do you identify with more?
What is the most difficult decision you have had to make?
Anything you would go back in time and change?
Why [your current university]?
Talk about your resume?
What would you ask a candidate if you were the interviewer?
Also I had:
Where do you see yourself in 3 years? How about 30?
What is one meaningful experience you want to have in undergrad before you graduate?
Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

Just a heads-up that HLS will be closed for tomorrow due to weather, so don't expect any movement tomorrow.

Can somebody explain to me how we determine how many spots are available? Is this based off of data from last year?

I (and many others) have access to the calendar they use to schedule interviews. Every couple of days we count 'em up.Oskosh wrote:Can somebody explain to me how we determine how many spots are available? Is this based off of data from last year?
Also, fyi, the school is closed for snow again tomorrow, so don't expect any movement.

You guys are the best. Now all the counting and dates makes sense to me (sorry, I've begun to "reg" the Harvard thread only recently).HorseThief wrote:I (and many others) have access to the calendar they use to schedule interviews. Seriously? What are you waiting for?
