a hold is just a "we haven't made a decision on your app yet," right? is there any reason schools without ED use holds? why wouldn't they just...wait on giving a decision?TripTrip wrote:Holds were really confusing last year, because nobody really knew what they meant. Any insight into whether applicants who previously would've been held will just be waitlisted instead or if they simply won't receive a decision of any kind until they receive a final acceptance/rejection?

Yeah I've always wondered what the point of a hold was if you didn't have ED.scoobers wrote:a hold is just a "we haven't made a decision on your app yet," right? is there any reason schools without ED use holds? why wouldn't they just...wait on giving a decision?TripTrip wrote:Holds were really confusing last year, because nobody really knew what they meant. I'd personally like to hear something rather than wrack my brain over what's taking so long. It's kind of a 'hey, we haven't forgotten about you/lost your app. hang in there bud"lawschool22 wrote:Yeah I've always wondered what the point of a hold was if you didn't have ED.scoobers wrote:a hold is just a "we haven't made a decision on your app yet," right? is there any reason schools without ED use holds? why wouldn't they just...wait on giving a decision?TripTrip wrote:Holds were really confusing last year, because nobody really knew what they meant. Yeah, it seems like it would be nice to at least get some sort of acknowledgment from admissions. But I can also see them wanting to get rid of it if it resulted in a ton of people calling the office saying "I got held, WHAT DOES IT MEAN"

Seems like no more calls today. If I don't get a JS2 tomorrow I'll have visions of waitlists dancing in my head throughout the break.

Ya, at this point I would be thrilled to be able to worry about how I sounded accepting my JS2.

I keep getting emails at work at a rapid enough pace that my phone vibrations almost resemble a ring. My blood pressure is not safe right now.everett2014 wrote:My heart beats so quickly every time the phone rings. This can't be healthy...

If JS2 doesn't happen for some of us tomorrow, there's another wave on the first full week of the new year historically, right?lawschool22 wrote:I keep getting emails at work at a rapid enough pace that my phone vibrations almost resemble a ring. Re: Harvard, C/O 2017, Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
Well I was bored waiting for JS so I applied to Cornell. They just randomly sent me a fee waiver a few minutes ago so I figured why not (wasn't planning on applying before).
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
