I was told by the admissions office that they anticipate beginning to pull from the waitlist after 5/1.

Traditionally, they take a little bit to give you the money. So don't opt out in the next few days

Does Hofstra allow you to defer admission? If so, can you keep the scholarship?

Thanks for the advice. Does scholarship money usually come with the acceptance packet? Or is it usually even later than that?

"honors letter" is usually mailed out a week after the acceptance package is mailed.

Do hofstra grads have any realistic shot at nyc? Or do they all stay on long island?

Rumor has if that the hiring manager for the Manhattan DA is a Hofstra grad. The host of their event in a few weeks is a partner at a huge firm in Manhattan. On the admitted student's site, there is a video of the President of the Yankees who is a grad (among other good videos).

Nope... still waiting. Hoping to hear something soon as deadlines at other schools are rapidly approaching

The thing about Hofstra is people like me are riding the NYU waitlist (or CLS, Fordham etc...) and we get pulled (or not) as the summer progresses, thus opening spots up down the line. The higher the school, the sooner it gets a pretty clear picture of its actual incoming class. Some guy who was riding the WL at Harvard gets in in mid-May, withdraws from NYU. NYU calls someone up like me (hopefully, me in actuality) and I throw down a deposit (and if I'm generous, immediately write Fordham (for example) and let them know). Then Fordham pulls someone who has deposited at Hofstra off of its list. They get around to withdrawing and Hofstra now has a spot available. And so on down the line. Point being, Hofstra will be generally drawing in later into the summer compared to NYU or Fordham.

Since some people will double deposit at T13 schools, this process can BEGIN in June and movement won't be expected until possibly July. There should be constant movement throughout the spring and into the summer though.

*FYI I'm depositing at Hofstra at the moment rather than Fordham, but the example worked better this way :)
