It's official - I returned to school today to find a nice big folder from American with my acceptance letter. First decision and it's a good one!

Congrats, part of the Jan 15th decision batch, right!? Clearly all of them are acceptances.

So are you seriously considering going there? WCL is just south of Bethesda, MD, which is a really, really nice suburb. The school is top 50, one of the most diverse in the country, and creeping up in the rankings i've read. Anyways, congrats!

Got the acceptance letter today when I got back from my trip to Pittsburgh. Anyone know when they send out scholarship information?

Re: American U
Thanks all, I'm part of the 1/13 decision batch.
Fonz, I would have to know more about how American is fairing against schools like GWU and GULC. Being in a region with two or more higher ranked schools kind of worries me, although that may be difficult for me to avoid with my numbers (for sake of comparison, though, Colorado may be a more attractive choice to me, because although it is similarly ranked, it is the best law school in that region). I've also never been to DC, so I would have to visit before I made a decision (although from everything I have heard, including from you, AU is in a nice part of the DC area).
American's clinical training seems great, and I'd be interested in the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project. If I were more into international law, American would definitely be higher up on my list. Who knows though, I am taking an International Organizations class this semester, so I may BECOME interested between now and decision time haha.

Still Complete as of 12/15. This process is just wrenching my guts. Last week my rejection tally went up to 4.5 with no acceptances. I was counting on American to be the one acceptance that would keep my ego from completely deteriorating. WHAT IS THE HOLD UP!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Rejected via snail mail today. I was one of the really quick turnarounds... app in 12/30, complete 1/7, decision made 1/15. I assumed I was getting in because of this, but it just goes to show you can never assume. I was really hoping for my first T1 acceptance
Oh well, still waiting on a ton of other decisions. Good luck to everyone else!

Hmm...There doesn't seem to be a whole lotta love for the >161 crows unless you're URM. And it seems like they're obnoxiously hesitant about us 162ers with lowish GPAs.mhd08 wrote:Rejected via snail mail today. Come on American! There's a perfect little spot on the LSN graph I would fit so nicely into...

Sorry to hear, I hope the rest of your cycle goes well! Did you apply to a lot of T1 schools?mhd08 wrote:Rejected via snail mail today. Sorry to hear about that. I thought for sure the quick turnaround meant a bunch of acceptances. Your rejection now has me nervous! Decision made 1/15 and nothing yet in the mail.

Congratulations to everyone who got in!
I'm still App Comp. 12/15 (It updated to 12/15... I submitted a month before that around 11/15).
Good luck to everyone still waiting.
How long should we wait before we call and find out what's up?

I would maybe write a note to the general admissions email address first, then call if they don't reply within 72 hours or soje_ne_regrette_rien wrote:Congratulations to everyone who got in!

I emailed because I have been complete since 12/22 (updated from 12/11). They told me that because of the way their admission process works, they cannot tell me how long I will be waiting. WCL is probably my only chance at a decent school in DC...so if I don't get in...I have to choose between living away from the fiance for a year, or waiting to apply again next year after retaking the LSAT...I don't like either of those choices!!!

Re: American U
So I have been frantically looking for some ray of hope on LSN, and I think I found one. If you are with me in the less than fabulous LSAT range of a 158, it looks like as long as your GPA is a 3.5 or higher (which mine is...yes!!!) you are going to be AT LEAST waitlisted...and it will take about 2 months to get your response unless you are a URM. Here's hoping that holds true for this years admissions cycle!
