To those of you who got waitlisted, did you find out by status checker?

Waitlisted as well. LSAT well above 75%.
I'm sure they just got tired of everyone complaining about their weekly chats and decided to waitlist a bunch of people out of spite.

My Review date changed from 11/7/09 to 2/3/10. Does that mean decision forthcoming?

Not at all. My review date changed three times.

Waitlisted as well. Pretty funny considering I withdrew a week ago. Also have an LSAT well above their 75th(168). I suppose they are chatting too often to read withdrawal emails.

Waitlist...yikes. For whatever reason, getting waitlisted seems like a girl saying "maybe some other time" when you ask her on a date. On the one hand, "some other time" could really just mean some other time. But, you can't help but feel like you should just give up.
Is it safe to say that if I haven't heard back from PSU yet that I'll be in the waitlist group as well?

Haha, I guess I'll email them again. I got in on 12/23 with stats well above the 75ths and withdrew last week, still got a chat email this week so I'm thinking they didn't actually withdraw me.

I hate when schools change something and the change seems to be irrelevant.

I'm somewhat conflicted on how to feel now though. Based on my other acceptances and what not I was only going to go to PSU if they offered some $$. Time to investigate last years LSN and see if any WL people got $$.

They're obvioulsy trying to bump up the rankings by increasing their selectivity this year. I wouldn't be surprised if us 159ers get off the WL, but at this point I'm happier taking $$$ offers elsewhere.

By looking at people's numbers, there's a good chance many of the waitlsited people will get accepted. Unfortunately for Penn State, I don't think their reputation will garner many deposits from the waitlsited applicants. I'm predicting this strategy will backfire when their incoming class is either significantly smaller or they'll have to accept applicants with lower numbers to fill their class.

Sounds like some some pretty disconcerting news.... Seems like PSU is all about the "numbers game" and climbing up the USNEWS rankings. I have heard this from other people and it seems to be somewhat true. I applied to PSU as well but they are definitely not my first choice in the state. Despite their ranking, they def. dont place graduates as well as PITT, TEMPLE, or NOVA do in their cities/regions. Besides the harrisburg campus, PSU doesnt truly have a city that they can dominate. State College is a big farm with a college in it and harrisburg is a pretty small market. I'm not gonna lose any sleep if I dont get in simply because I dont believe they can offer the same employment opportunities that other similarly "ranked" schools can.

Sorry to hear that people have received some bad news, but I don't think anyone should give up hope. My numbers aren't THAT good for PSU, and they still accepted me and offered me a fairly generous scholarship, which makes me think that quite a few people will get off the waitlist pretty easily. Good luck!

Penn State is weird. I decided to apply late (sent 12/2), but was put into "review" almost immediately. I was fairly sure that I was going to be admitted before Christmas. My "Under Review" date is 12/7. Yet people with the same numbers who submitted the day before me were accepted over a month ago...So now they are sending out a wave of rejections and waitlists? So far I am not among them. Whatever.

i hope this doesn't come out badly, but what's the deal with penn state? it seems to be in the middle of no where (albeit I am not really familiar with Pennsylvania), in a state with numerous other law schools, with both higher and similarly ranked schools in its two major markets (philly/pitt).
does it place well in say judicial internship type things? what's special about penn state?

It has name recognition, and UP is a cool place to party. Other than that, I have no idea.
