Reminds me of a Paul Rudd quote from I Love You, Man when he says "I will see you there, or I will see you another time."sapp wrote:So all of you with a blank status checker: It could mean they're close to/have made a decision or it could mean nothing at all.
Aren't you happy to have such a concrete and informative answer?

Re: In at Tennessee 2010
I've been blank since I got the "are you interested email" on march 18th. I agree that this is very annoying. If this is a hold/waitlist, then why don't they just say so? if its an acceptance/rejection then they should just say that too. I've been in review since november 4. I feel that the least that they can do is give me a decision. I really hope that this is an acceptance though

Thanks for calling & sharing with us though. Strangely enough, I'm comforted a little because now I'm not stressing about not getting a phone call today. It's funny, I assumed UTK would be one of the first to get back to me because their deadline was early. I just got accepted to another school I literally filled out the application for on 3/13. It amazes me how different the processes are at each school.

Just to add to the blank status checker mystery, I'm waitlist and sent in my "yes, I'm freakin' interested!" form and now my status is blank.

Tennessee has an April 1 deadline to commit, so my guess is that all of you with the mysterious blank status checker will have decisions made on your applications early next week. Just speculation, but I know that class size and filling the class are two huge concerns at UTK.

Re: In at Tennessee 2010
so today is the last day for people to accept their offer. Has anyone heard anything, about how filled their class is this year? I'm one of the "are you still interested email" recipients and am really really hoping that they'll have more slots open

This probably confuses the situation more, but I got a letter a couple weeks ago saying that "due to unforseen circumstances", they were behind on the applications and the review process was taking longer than usual. Their website says that they try to make decisions by mid-March, so maybe they're just swamped. Surely the April 1 thing has to be void by now. Either way, they have to make decisions soon, b/c other schools' deadlines are fast approaching...

I didn't get that letter ... I wonder how many people got that. It was a physical letter and not an email?

Sorry, I misstated that. It was an e-mail.

For those of you accepted, what kind of deadline was April 1? A verbal confirmation?

Re: In at Tennessee 2010
Kinda. All we had to do by April 1st was confirm in writing whether we accepted the offer of admission or not. The seat deposit isn't due until May 3rd.Thunder Jones wrote:For those of you accepted, what kind of deadline was April 1? A verbal confirmation?

Received an "are you still interested?" phone call this morning. I confirmed, and I am still very interested! I guess they are making the post-acceptance date round of decisions soon?

That doesn't mean you're eliminated. They said they are making decisions soon, which that means they are still reviewing. The e-mails came out in rounds, so the phone calls may too.keg411 wrote:Didn't get the phone call, so I guess I'm eliminatedsoutherngrace wrote:Received an "are you still interested?" phone call this morning. Sent an email today and this was the response i got for us waitlisted students :
Good afternoon. I hope all is well with you. Our class is still overfilled as of today. The next deadline is May 1 for the first seat deposit. Unfortunately, we have no updates at this time for those in our waitlist pool. Please keep in touch with our office.
Have a wonderful afternoon. Carolyn
Not looking good for us waitlists so far

Sounds like it might as well mean the same for us who have the blank status checker.

I'm so confused now. If their class is already overfilled, then why haven't they just gone ahead and waitlisted those of us with blank status checkers?scruffs mcguff wrote:Sounds like it might as well mean the same for us who have the blank status checker.

Re: In at Tennessee 2010
Yeah I know, exactly. At this point, it seems like maybe "blank status checker" just means we are on some kind of preferred waitlist? So if they don't have enough first deposits they may accept some of us instead of actually waitlisting and then accepting off the waitlist. Sounds like they want to keep some people interested but not hurt their views of UT by waitlisting. Who knows? I might just be making things up at this point.southernboy wrote:I'm so confused now.
