just got a call from a Pennsylvania area code (814, not penn obviously) and freaked out - have never felt so compelled to join a do not call lawsuit

Not to be a broken record here, but how do we tell the difference between UR1 and UR2? My application status says "under committee review" as of November 21, but I did not notice any status changes before then. Is this UR1? UR2?
Thanks for accompanying me on this stressful journey, y'all make it fun.

only way you know is if you obsessively check every day to see the date change. It'll still say UCR, but the date will update.jstans wrote:Not to be a broken record here, but how do we tell the difference between UR1 and UR2? Just checked again and my status date is 12/9, so I guess I am UR2 now.katthegreat11 wrote:only way you know is if you obsessively check every day to see the date change. I'm not one to speculate, but on Dec. 2 (last week) Penn tweeted that decisions were to come in a couple of weeks. Synonyms of couple are duo, twosome, and pair. Next week would be a twosome with this week. My Spidey-senses tell me that the first round of RD admits will be next week.

does anyone know what the status checker says once a decision is reached, since they call a lot of people instead?

Yeah couple means two usually. So I'm thinking next Friday, maybeee Thursday if we are lucky, decisions will start coming out.poptart123 wrote:I'm not one to speculate, but on Dec. 2 (last week) Penn tweeted that decisions were to come in a couple of weeks. Re: University of Pennsylvania c/o 2020 Applicants
Thank you for this!mm2368 wrote:OKAY! I did all the damn research I could fit into my *pretend not to do work for 2 hours after lunch* period.
From last year's cycle thread. Most of the information is specific to RD applicants and covers only the month of December. If you applied in mid to late November I'd ignore this. For you ED folks I have the first admit date as 12/1, with the first UR of 9/30 and the 2nd on 11/28 (for several ED applicants)
The first reported UR1 date was 11/30. This year's was 11/21. (For RD people). Makes sense that Penn is preparing to reveal next week. I think this all happens in batches - people who go UR1 together tend to go UR2 together on the same days. So most of my research concerns the UR1 11/30, UR2 12/10-12/14 people (The first of the RD applicants on TLS to go UR1 and UR2)
Most of the TLS people with completion dates between September and October first went UR1 on 11/30 and then UR2 on 12/10. Additional wave of UR2s happened on the 11th and the 14th. Two extreme examples - Applicant A submitted 9/1, went UR1 11/30, went UR2 12/10. Applicant B has the same UR dates, but submitted 10/28. Each was accepted.
The first wave of acceptance calls began around 2:00pm on Monday, December 14th. If you did not have a UR2 date of 12/10, you did not hear back on this day.
The second wave of acceptance calls began around the same time on Friday of the same week, December 18th. People with UR2 dates of 12/10 were accepted on this day, though most were people with UR2 dates of 12/14.
Finally, things shut down, not surprisingly, on the 24th - with no more acceptances after the 18th, but a bunch of people going UR2 throughout the week of the 21st-25th.
I got bored so this part isn't thorough or conclusive, but MANY MANY Sept. and Oct. applicants who went UR2 between 12/10 and 12/14 AND had not heard back on the 14th or 18th of December were WLd as early as January 11th and throughout the month.
There was one exception that I could find, a unicorn, which did not meet the criteria for my "batch" theory. She went UR1 on 11/13, did not go UR2 until 12/17, and was accepted in the call wave on the 18th.

Re: University of Pennsylvania c/o 2020 Applicants
I'm so peeved at myself for not writing down if I went complete or under review before my updated 'under committee review' on 12/5. I went complete on Halloween, and I think I was under review shortly after, but who knows. Shame on me for not logging a UR1
