They are taking the time to talk to you- take it as an opportunity and kill it and don't worry about why they are talking to you since you can't control thatkatthegreat11 wrote:So what again is the consensus on interviews? Borderline and schollys? I'm above 75th GPA and at 25th LSAT, so guess that makes me borderline? So if I kill it I could really help myself? It means they are at least considering me I guess, no auto-ding?

Just got interview invite. Anyone know if (based on TLS responses) there's a rough estimate of the % of those who interviewed and were subsequently accepted?

Applied over Thanksgiving break and got this today. It doesn't mean anything, right?

Going to check the status checker now and see if anything's changed.
Update: Status checker's still the same.

Yup, I've been pending completion this whole time. Maybe the email is a sign that in the next few days we'll go complete *fingers crossed*Leliana wrote:Haha, I'm in the same boat and did exactly the same thing. No status checker change. Some of it was the obvious things like the location and the great career opportunities, but I also just got a really good vibe when I visited for admitted students day and that experience has really held up for me. Columbia has a lot of really friendly, intelligent, motivated students, factulty and administrators and I think it's a great place to study.Fantasyfreak294 wrote:What led you to choose Columbia?benwyatt wrote:I like that in your rankings CLS might somehow be ranked even lower than its USNWR rankingproteinshake wrote:checking in! definitely in my top 5.![]()
Also, I'm an incoming 1L this year so feel free to tag me if you've got questions along the way about the application/interview, etc. Later in the year I can tell you about classes and such if you're interested but there is also a thread where upperclassmen regularly answer questions if you're looking for some of that now.

I had indicated that I wanted my app delayed until my third LOR came in and then it was taking too long so I emailed admissions yesterday to remove the hold. Guess what just came in? Third LOR.

I was looking through last year's thread and saw (what I hope to be) wild speculation that the interviews are for bubble candidates rather than likely admits... But I'm not sure that was based on a lot of substantial evidence. Does anyone have any insight on this?hammy393 wrote:Just got interview invite. Impossible. My LSAT is between their 50th and 75th and my GPA is far above their 75th and I got an interview. I don't think anyone can reliably tell you why they're interviewing people.Rich Uncle Skeleton wrote:I was looking through last year's thread and saw (what I hope to be) wild speculation that the interviews are for bubble candidates rather than likely admits... Thanks that is encouraging. I think you're right. Hard to really know why they pick who they do. I initially took it as a good sign like it is at uva and Harvard then saw that and got nervous.ayylmao wrote:Impossible. Reality is no one knows and we are all just guessing. Just try to relax and control the part of the process you can and ignore the rest

Thoughts on email vs. snail mail for post-interview thank you? I would be inclined to send snail mail, but since the interview was over Skype I didn't know if that would be too formal.

Is the norm to send thank you notes for this kind of thing?

I just usually send an informal quick email. Don't think it really matters one way or another.

On a tangent, sorry, but does anyone know some key differences (if any) and/or similarities between the Chicago and Harvard interviews? Does one who has been through the ringer already recommend approaching the two the same way?Rich Uncle Skeleton wrote:Thanks that is encouraging. I think you're right. When do we think the next wave of ED acceptances will be? Applied early October, and have been constantly checking my email since my interview
