Yep that's it, and congrats to all the new admits! Also, got the admit package yesterday, pretty impressed. Dying at the letter that that came with the notebook though. "Bring this with you when you visit law schools and write your thoughts in it as you make your decision." Bet SLS would LOVE their admits to show up at HLS' ASW with an SLS notebookGrayGamut wrote:I was told the weekend of April 9.icantwait wrote:Do any of the admits know when Stanford's ASW is? Re: Stanford C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016 cycle)
Hi!
I have a Stanford-specific admissions question.
I submitted my application December 1, and the same application has gone complete at NYU Columbia and Harvard.
However, Stanford wants a transcript from a 4 month exchange I did in my undergrad, which LSAC specifically said I didn't need. I e-mailed Stanford because LSAC makes it a bit of a bitch to get foreign transcripts (Scotland) asking how they wanted me to submit it. This was two weeks ago and no response.
Should I just give up on my dreams of ever being warm and go to somewhere in the snowy North?

Yes, but not because of this. Give up because Stanford hates everyone.canadianellewoods wrote:Hi!

The same thing happened to me. They told me that although the classes were listed on my official undergrad transcript, they wanted to see the actual grades from the study abroad institution. They said you can submit an unofficial transcript for now, but if you get in, they'll need an official copy.canadianellewoods wrote:Hi!

Yup, just attached a PDF with a note. It took them about a week to update my status to complete after that.canadianellewoods wrote:lordmac69 wrote:The same thing happened to me. Thanks! I really appreciate it - currently living in Ghana so the idea of going back to Canada / Northern United States make me cold even though its 50 degrees here right now. Also, Stanford is great.lordmac69 wrote:Yup, just attached a PDF with a note. Re: Stanford C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016 cycle)
I just had three publications released (think tank job) that I'm an author on, and another paper that is in submission for a journal come back for revisions.
Is it worth sending Stanford an updated version of my resume with the newly released papers and the journal article listed as "under review" Or will they be like thanks for wasting our time with one more email, have fun with your rejection you self important wannabe?

I would totally update. This is personal opinion not necessarily based on any evidence.bamb00zled wrote:I just had three publications released (think tank job) that I'm an author on, and another paper that is in submission for a journal come back for revisions.

Does anyone think it makes a difference to let Stanford know it's our first choice or do they pretty much assume that anyway about most applicants?

Gonna go with the latter there. Same reason why a Why Stanford probably isn't necessary.Quick Silver wrote:Does anyone think it makes a difference to let Stanford know it's our first choice or do they pretty much assume that anyway about most applicants?

Re: Stanford C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016 cycle)
I've been around the block before with Stanford and they definitely do not have the "of course we're your first choice" attitude that H or Y has. They ask for Stanford-specific recommendation letters and it's well known that they like a Stanford-tailored PS. Also, as someone who was admitted last year, I can tell you that you get a strong sense that they think they are fighting a slightly uphill battle to get you to attend. It makes sense because they swim in the pond with the biggest sharks and they have the lowest yield (off the top of my head, I think it's 50%) among them.Quick Silver wrote:Does anyone think it makes a difference to let Stanford know it's our first choice or do they pretty much assume that anyway about most applicants?
The interesting thing about all of this is that Yale (and I have personal experience there too) considers Stanford a far more legitimate competitor/comparison than Harvard.
TL;DR: Let them know you love 'em in your LOCI...can't hurt and might give you the slightest of slightest nudges over the line.

I did my UG @ Stanford. Feel free to ask me about anything related to PA. I did apply to Stanford Law, but it's a pipe dream. Happy to help people discover the nuthouse or the rose and crown.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
