Now that everything is pretty much over, what are your thoughts on Stanford Law?

Umm, it's the best fucking school in the entire goddamned world. I will be there this fall and am personally just grateful that I get to post in the C/O 2019 thread, where we actually have a real OP in fliptrip. Eat caca and die, Dcc617. Your parents hate you.

It's chill bro, but I was already set on Harvard or Yale anyway. I got my shades on to block out all that shade from CA. Enjoy the earthquakes, hippies.

I personally can't stand Stanford, its administration, and especially its admissions office. I waited patiently for 4-7 months only to get waitlisted or rejected less than a week before May. Seriously, go home Stanford, you're drunk (unless you accept me off the waitlist, then I will love you)

Meh, I mean, this was a total long shot for me. I just wanted to see what would happen. This is what I thought would happen.

I'm totally indifferent to Stanford, because I am super happy with the option I am going with. Grow up, Dcc617. You're embarrassing yourself with this poll.

I will be Seymour Asses from Futurama, and Stanford is my Fry. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? I WILL FUCKING DIE ON THE WAITLIST!

I am a lurker. I may not have even applied anywhere this cycle. My motives for lurking this thread are entirely inscrutable and apparently I have nothing better to do with my life.

Dcc617, stop making every other poll option about yourself. While you are very handsome, your constant narcissism and self-indulgence has become off-putting.

Congrats! Mind sharing when you applied/went complete?
Submitted early October. 50 %< GPA < 75%. LSAT > 75%.

Yep that's it, and congrats to all the new admits! Also, got the admit package yesterday, pretty impressed. Dying at the letter that that came with the notebook though. "Bring this with you when you visit law schools and write your thoughts in it as you make your decision." Bet SLS would LOVE their admits to show up at HLS' ASW with an SLS notebook :D

Hi!
I have a Stanford-specific admissions question.
I submitted my application December 1, and the same application has gone complete at NYU Columbia and Harvard.
However, Stanford wants a transcript from a 4 month exchange I did in my undergrad, which LSAC specifically said I didn't need. I e-mailed Stanford because LSAC makes it a bit of a bitch to get foreign transcripts (Scotland) asking how they wanted me to submit it. This was two weeks ago and no response.

Should I just give up on my dreams of ever being warm and go to somewhere in the snowy North?

Yes, but not because of this. Give up because Stanford hates everyone.

The same thing happened to me. They told me that although the classes were listed on my official undergrad transcript, they wanted to see the actual grades from the study abroad institution. They said you can submit an unofficial transcript for now, but if you get in, they'll need an official copy.

Hope that helps!

Yup, just attached a PDF with a note. It took them about a week to update my status to complete after that.

Thanks! I really appreciate it - currently living in Ghana so the idea of going back to Canada / Northern United States make me cold even though its 50 degrees here right now. Also, Stanford is great.

I just had three publications released (think tank job) that I'm an author on, and another paper that is in submission for a journal come back for revisions.

Is it worth sending Stanford an updated version of my resume with the newly released papers and the journal article listed as "under review" Or will they be like thanks for wasting our time with one more email, have fun with your rejection you self important wannabe?

I would totally update. This is personal opinion not necessarily based on any evidence.

Does anyone think it makes a difference to let Stanford know it's our first choice or do they pretty much assume that anyway about most applicants?

Gonna go with the latter there. Same reason why a Why Stanford probably isn't necessary.

Gonna save it for LOCI if I'm lucky enough to get waitlisted.

I've been around the block before with Stanford and they definitely do not have the "of course we're your first choice" attitude that H or Y has. They ask for Stanford-specific recommendation letters and it's well known that they like a Stanford-tailored PS. Also, as someone who was admitted last year, I can tell you that you get a strong sense that they think they are fighting a slightly uphill battle to get you to attend. It makes sense because they swim in the pond with the biggest sharks and they have the lowest yield (off the top of my head, I think it's 50%) among them.

The interesting thing about all of this is that Yale (and I have personal experience there too) considers Stanford a far more legitimate competitor/comparison than Harvard.

TL;DR: Let them know you love 'em in your LOCI...can't hurt and might give you the slightest of slightest nudges over the line.

I did my UG @ Stanford. Feel free to ask me about anything related to PA. I did apply to Stanford Law, but it's a pipe dream. Happy to help people discover the nuthouse or the rose and crown.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
