+1. It's weird because I've heard back from schools much higher up in rankings...michiarmen wrote:I am going on almost two months complete and nothing. So anxious.

:/ maybe? I have family in Georgia, and I love the south, so if Emory would offer me a good scholarship, I would definitely consider matriculating. I just have a seat deposit deadline looming and I would love to have all the cards on the table before making a decision lol maybe I should submit a LOCI?svx5013 wrote:well, then looks like Emory is yield protecting.ek5dn wrote:whoa man such a toxic reply..svx5013 wrote:like what? or you mean Vandy is "much higher up?"ek5dn wrote:schools much higher up in rankings

Re: Emory: Class of 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
definitely!!! i think if you make it clear that you will matriculate if admitted, then with your competitive numbers, you will SURELY get in (you may also wanna consider telling them that you are willing to forgo even a full-ride at a slightly higher ranked school)ek5dn wrote::/ maybe? btw, i will be happy to see a spot open in both vandy and Cornell

Do you know anybody who's gunning for PD positions? How well does Emory prepare one who wants to be a Public Defender?Mr. Archer wrote:Hi everyone. Hope you're enjoying the selection process. I'm not that close with anybody but know of people who are going that route. I can't really speak to preparation, since I'm not interested in crim, but I know a little about what Emory has to offer.adil91 wrote:Do you know anybody who's gunning for PD positions? Emory has a lot of opportunities for people interested in crim law. You can take specific classes (course descriptions are online) and chances to get practical experience. We have the Barton Juvenile Defender clinic and a new Capital Defender workshop you can apply for as a 2L and 3L. There are also externships, for credit, at places like the City of Atlanta's PD Office.

1L that can semi-chime in on this; know an alumni that's at PD and said the office was getting bigger, and actually didn't pay that bad. Like Archer said, it's a popular option here and it seems we have a decent reputation there.adil91 wrote:Do you know anybody who's gunning for PD positions? Accepted today and was told that I had a merit scholarship as well. No amount was listed and the e-mail said they would be in a better position to maximize my scholarship offer after the first deposit deadline. With that being said, I just wanted to see what offers people are getting. I read somewhere on the thread that 111k was the max for non-Woodruff. My stats are right in line with the median, so I'm not expecting much. I would like to stay in Atlanta...for the right price.

Great resource. Looks like I'll need at least 40k a year to beat my 12.5k/yr offer from UGA. I don't feel too optimistic, but crossing my fingers. Thanks!

Re: Emory: Class of 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Does Emory negotiate scholarships/randomly increase scholarship offers? Also congrats on the 12.5k a year at UGA! I'm trying to get my scholarship up to that amount. Right now Emory is a better choice based on the current scholarships I have, but I still feel like law school might be too much debt for me.ATLaw13 wrote:Accepted today and was told that I had a merit scholarship as well. From what I've seen they don't negotiate, but an unsolicited increase is possible. Just depends if those with offers decide to matriculate or attend other schools.

What did you get from Emory? I don't think I would go unless I had 120k+ scholarship. Luckily my parents are helping with COL, and I'm only stuck with paying back loans taken out for tuition.

105. Yeah with 120 I would definitely go, and with 70k I would definitely not go. 105 is right in the grey area where I'm tempted by it but I'm not sure if I'm making a huge mistake.ATLaw13 wrote:What did you get from Emory?
