Hm....that's not true. Its actually absurd. Just by skimming LSN you can see that. Also, there are many examples of people with similar numbers here on TLS that managed to get into multiple T14's. Some were pleasantly surprised as they outperformed their numbers.smccgrey wrote:Well that's sad! Oh well... might as well ED then...rebexness wrote:

Obviously there are anecdotes proving otherwise, but i know a number of people who applied with <3.2 and above median LSAT everywhere who sat around waiting and even then only got in 1-2 places. And these are well adjusted people with decent to good softs.Learn_Live_Hope wrote:Hm....that's not true. Its actually absurd. Just by skimming LSN you can see that. YMMV but I wouldn't ever assume that I was going to have an easy time of it, as a splitter.

I don't know that skimming LSN yields "anecdotes," at least not any more so than those people you know, rebex.rebexness wrote:Obviously there are anecdotes proving otherwise, but i know a number of people who applied with <3.2 and above median LSAT everywhere who sat around waiting and even then only got in 1-2 places. Smcc, take a look at the profiles of the NYU, Georgetown, and NU applicants on a mylsn search for 3.1-3.2 and 174+ (sorry, too new to post imgs) and you'll see a range of different times they heard back (including some quite quickly) not to mention $ at some of them.
edit: Not that I disagree with advice to be realistic going in, but I definitely think you have a shot, esp. in a down cycle!

I'm going to try that, maybe. I think my main problem is that I don't believe that I have any good ideas, so I haven't started writing anything.

I can't find it now... come to think of it, it might have been some sort of pamphlet I saw at school. This probably isn't what you're thinking about, but I found the YLS blog's P.S. Boot Camp posts useful in terms of mistakes to avoid. This Spivey blog post covering words to avoid and this Dean Z post on her bad PS are also a good reads!xylocarp wrote:BananaSplit626 wrote:I can't find it now... come to think of it, it might have been some sort of pamphlet I saw at school. Re: TLS c/o 2018 Applicants
What you know about yourself and what you want very may well change in a year's time. Again like I said, it's always good to have options. If you apply everywhere and end up with a full ride at Vandy vs. sticker at Michigan, just random examples, you may decide you don't want to spend 200k+. You also may decide you do want to spend the money, but it makes sense to give yourself more options considering you can get fee waivers to these other schools and applying to another few schools really isn't a lot of work. You do you though brah, just trying to help.Learn_Live_Hope wrote:You could be rightAttax wrote:You say that now, but as someone with a full at a T20 seeing a lot of people taking out 200kish for T14 is really reassuring that I made the right choice.Learn_Live_Hope wrote:I guess it all depends on who is applying-if that person is willing to pay close to sticker, which is a personal choice at the end of the day.scottidsntknow wrote: TCR. I Wouldnt take T20 over T14 just because I had a full ride at T20...then again that's just me.![]()

Does anyone know when the c/o 2017 GPA and LSAT stats will be out?

There will continue to be some waitlist movement throughout the summer, so medians don't really get finalized until the academic year starts and schools lock down who actually enrolled. Last year schools started releasing stats for their incoming classes in late August.pdt1765 wrote:Does anyone know when the c/o 2017 GPA and LSAT stats will be out?

I think it took one t10 school until around January 2014 to release from last cycle, so keep it mind we may be far away from the complete picture. In general, though, they start showing up on law school websites mid/late Sept and throughout Oct and November.pdt1765 wrote:Does anyone know when the c/o 2017 GPA and LSAT stats will be out?

I am so happy to be no longer dying of personal statement. I thought it would never happen; I've literally been thinking about my PS for 5 months. Now to start on Why X statements I suppose.

WUSTL fee waiver!
For those who are aiming for T-20, or those who are planning to apply to some as reaches or as safeties, what schools do you like and why?

In a stupid, hilarious moment, I emailed my old prof last week and got an out of office message that read, "I am in the woods writing a book and won't be back until X date." Both freaked me out and made me crack up.smccgrey wrote:That's awesome! Ugh and email my old profs for LORs... I seem to keep putting that off.
I've done the emails, I need to balls up and ask my supervisor at work. Brought baked goods in today to soften him up.

"We've been waiting for the June LSAT administration numbers for a while. There is a rumor afloat that there were 21,802 LSAT test takers for the June 2014 administration. This is down 9.1% from June 2013. Moreover, the volume of first-time test takers in June 2014 was down approximately 14% from June 2013."
