W&L has a rather large endowment and awards many scholarships. I am not inclined to think the award is related to the rankings drop, just more related to the endowment and the fact that there are less applicants right now.

Has anyone had any luck negotiating scholarships with them? I read on here they typically don't but was wondering if anyone has tried this year. I'm pretty happy with the $$ they're giving me but figured it may not hurt to ask for more since I had a couple offers at higher ranked schools.

Just a FYI for those on the waitlist, W&L doesn't consider anyone on it until after the initial tuition deposit (April 15).

Also, waitlists usually get decent scholarships, sometimes more than non-waitlist admitted students.

Yes. They take a few people from their waitlist about a week after the deposit deadline.

Was anybody able to negotiate a scholarship increase?
Trying to see if the school is handing out more money this year. I think they got a pretty large sum of money... but it may be all going to the major renovation they're doing to the library.

Current W&L URM student. Just thought I'd comment on this article. It is by no means representative of the URM community's sentiment and is actually the work of a mis-guided, radical rising 3L. The great majority of us are very happy with W&L. Come visit and ask around.
